From what a Buddie said on fb I's that he ownes a pretty sweet old school. So in assuming this was a race turned sour i wouldn't find that a reasonable reaction to run someone over. Maybe the guy was ticked off that the car was breaking down in front of him.

If you made it to WCSS14, Steve is the guy who had the red Subaru XT turbo.

I also found out the PD impounded his car and his girlfriend had to pay $400 to get it out. I think I'm going to see about getting donations going to help him out.

Here's the thread over on the Subaru XT board...

Not sure why they towed it.

The car he owns is an XT turbo and seeing that it's all stock, it's not very fast. So I doubt he was racing anyone. Also, I do know he was having electrical issues for the last few months that he was working on.

I'm looking for a link on Reddit that has the news story with an interview with Steve.

It was most likely towed because of the safety factor for other vehicles on the road.
He should not have to pay for the towing or storage. I would think his insurance will refund him for the cost. Isn't that why we pay these outrageous premiums.

Insurance could be a reason why they towed it also, if he didnt have it. I've known him since high school and money has always been pretty tight. Either way though its a crappy situation and hope he recovers fast.

I know Steve personally and he is one of the kindest warm hearted person I have met amongst the Subaru crowd. I wish I had time to scout the area for a few days in finding this knuckle head to fess up.

I hope he gets better soon and see him in the Subaru again. The Xt-6 is an amazing classical unique Subaru. I wish I was there to have been able to help.

Steve is asking for help. He wants people to post about this on the Mustang forums in the PNW. Maybe someone will recognize the car and let authorities know.

Hi guys I am steve im home now from the hospital. There reason for towing me was bs. It was because I was within 5 miles of i5..... @ least that was their excuse. Thanks to all who have tried looking for this guy. The cops have been more concerned with making me pay to get my car back then looking for him. Lets also kill some of the rumors. I did have insurance at the time of the incident. The car has 92bhp I wasnt racing anyone. As far as the rumors of road rage. I had been sitting in the car for several minutes before getting out and had not seen that car before he hit me.

Hey guys just caught this on Facebook.

Quoted text of recent news: "You know, I rarely every post things on Facebook. Anyone who knows me knows that, and some of you have probably forgotten that I'm even on your friends list. But I feel that this needs to be said. I just got news from my dear friend, brother, whatever you want to call him Steve Johnson who let me know that he got a letter from Washington State. Now, let me remind you who this is. On December 6th, Steve was involved in a hit and run. He had his femur shattered and his other knee severely damaged. This guy even made it on the news several times. His recovery has been slow, but he is doing awesome given the circumstances. Not only, though, was he a VICTIM of a hit and run, but he was harassed by the Washington State Patrol officer, they towed his car and made him pay to get it out of tow, and they didn't make one step into trying to find out who did this. Now over three months later, with Steve over 100,000 dollars into medical bills, he gets a letter from Washinton State informing him that they have denied his CRIME VICTIM'S insurance claim because THEY have not found who did it. What is wrong with people? I don't understand. I am outraged. Completely and totally outraged. I don't expect anyone to re-post this, but this is something that needs to be spread. Especially those of us who live in Washington. I am made ill by the state of humanity, I am made ill by the reason he was given for the denial. And now with this being ridiculously long, I will close by saying thank you to all the people who have been a support for this wonderful man and friend. And c'mon guys, lets get pissed and show them how we really feel."

We NEED people to show up and show their support to Steve in response to this new news. The NEWS channels will be here to help expose this injustice at this event, so please come show your support

Here is the event info
Subaru Meet/Cruise for Steve Johnson

Yes the meet info i posted is off of the Facebook event page. Donation can be made at the meet location from my understanding.

I would like to state I don't know the people personally hosting the meet. Just the guys at pre. And i don't know the victim in the hit and run but My heart goes out for the guy though. And i will bee making a donation the day of the meet.

For some reason I doubt having a meet/cruise in Oregon is going to help much with the Crime Victim ins. claim in WA, even if local news covers it. Has anyone forwarded his story to local news outlets in WA? Is there anyone we could write to/contact with complaints regarding the WSP's treatment of his case?

complaints have to be filed with your state representitive. the law needs to change period. i could care less about my med bills but i dont want this happeneing to the next person. our area shares news with portland as i live 4 miles from the border. the only other major news outlet in WA is seattle and they dont seem interested.

In his previous statement he said he wasn't worried about the medical bills? And spending money on his car vs medical bills? The priorities don't sound set to me.
