I'm 37 and I love my Subie! I purchased my 02 Wrx Wagon back in 2007, it had about 60,000 miles on it at the time. I just recently broke in my new 2.2 stroker motor. I'm really anxious and excited to see what my wagon is capable of. We are getting my wife a 2.5 Forester XT very soon.

I'm taking a bet its the power. There arent that many places where you are going to take a low powered car out to 8000 rpm. Lots of people got them and werent all that impressed. They need to come out with a turbo version or just stop making it.

50 years old here, with a bit of a relevant story:

Sandy totaled my '11 OBS which I LOVED - had an STI rear sway installed, had other mods on the pipeline. Loved taking on highway ramps at insane speeds

Insurance came through and almost bought a '13 WRX in WRB. Had the bill of sale signed and everything, but opted for a '13 Impreza Sport Limited - sticking point was the wife does not drive stick...we changed our mind back to the WRX at the last minute, but too late, as it had been sold (NJ folks remember how hectic it was at dealerships). We needed a car in a hurry, so that was that (looking for emoticon for "hitting myself on the head with a mallet").

Not all is lost, as we plan on buying/leasing either a WRX or BRZ (manual) as a second car this summer...so a question to the older folks that have posted or lurked this thread: WRX or BRZ? Keep in mind I live in Jersey City...

By the way - I take exception to the whole "mid-life crisis" thing: I didn't all of a sudden start liking sports cars when I turned 50!

WRX all the way, you're going to want the AWD.

My Father bought his first STi (my STi) when he was 43, drove it stock for 73,000 miles; he then put an exhaust and intake on it. At 92,000 miles he bought a 2011 STi limited and it has 550hp he is now 47. He is the coolest dad. don't worry about your age, do what you like to do! I know a guy at the age of 86 with a Corvette ZR1 and graduated from Bondurant.

I don't think any of us are worried about our age or what people think.

My neighbor saw me in my 05 STi and then my 12 wrx and he told me it looks like a hot wheels car. When I told him I was heading to the dealership to pick up my 2013 STI Sedan he said he wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

To quote my neighbor after driving him around some country roads in my new STI yesterday , "It's like a go cart, a 4 door go cart..you must feel like you are at a go cart track every day in this thing with a smile on your face.". Yes neighbor, now you see why I drive the hot wheels car.

There are people who like roller coasters and people who hate them..I like this thread cause it's like looking back in the roller coaster line and seeing other dads.

You have a GC body, the ej20/25 are motors. Either one will bolt up, numbers signify 2/2.5 liter.

This post (and the thread in general) is making my day. The one from Representexas about the roller coaster/hot wheels analogy could be made into a Subaru commercial. I realize I'm still too young to think too rationally!

44, just got a 2013 wrx (sedan) and sold my old 2011 GT500
In the next 2 weeks, I will bring the wrx at the local shop (Swap Shop in Blainville, QC) for stage 2 mods, then I will see...
A car must be fun to drive... point.

Closing in on 30 here. I recently traded my 05 Saabaru 9-2x Aero for an 11 WRX 5Dr to give me more space for hauling around my 6mo old son.

No mods other than a few simple bolt ons. No exterior mods planned. In my mid 20s I had a Supra, 350Z and 370Z; all with mods inside and out. These days I'd much rather fly under the radar so to speak, but I still crave something fun to drive (and practical).
