Rota Grids 18x8.5 5x100 +44 front 18x9.5 5x100 +38 rear. BRZ staggered type setup
Alright, I have done some research, and I have come to the conclusion the Rota Grid's are indeed the wheels I want, in hyper black. I drive a 2006 impreza 2.5i (what i got from my parents I was so happy!!!) so I'm relatively new to the scoobie world, and to the wheel fitment scene as well. I have a set of lowering springs on the car, (came with the car when i bought it) so I'm down about an inch or so. I figured out that the 18 x 9.5 wheels will need alot of work to fit under my car haha
1. How much camber will I need for the rear wheels? and how much should that cost? 2. What kind of tires would be good? I realize I will need 2 different widths, any recommendations? 3. I have noticed that my hub bore is 56.1 mm compared to the Rota Grid's 73mm. How can I change that? and is it hard?/safe? Do I even need to? (dont know much about hub bore at all so bare with me if I sound stupid) I have been looking at these wheels for a while now, but I wont have the funds until sometime during the summer. I'm deffinitly going to ask a tire shop these questions and see what kind of responses I get. Any help is appreciated! thanks guys. Last edited by scubiedubie; 01-14-2013 at 06:58 PM. |

Sweet....but why such a skinny tire vs. a 245/40R18? I'm definitely jealous.

That's a nice looking rim. What's the price premium for a 'one-off' vs. standard size?

Wheeldude guys really letting me down right now. Dont understand why when I ordered my Rota DPT Hyperblacks I received them in a week, but I ordered lugs on December 28th, which were in stock, had to call 3 times and bitch before they processed my ordered finally on Jan 8th. Priority Mail got posted on Jan 9th notifying USPS to pick up, and nothing after that, doesn't even say it was pickup yet and that was a week ago. Did it not even get sent out? Needed them for tomorrow!!! Figured ordering 3 weeks before I need in hand would be enough time... WTF

I'd imagine you'd be okay, that's a "conservative" setup. I'm going to have the same setup in the Spring (have 225/40/18s on the same size Grids right now), I don't rub and I'm lowered 1.2f/1.0r with stock fenders (not rolled).

That'd fit on a narrow body 3g. I hope there wouldn't be any issues on a GD STi...

On a 18x8.5 I wouldn't go much bigger than 245, 235 is a good tire size for 8.5

Ride height and camber settings all dialed in with the new wheels. Crappy iPhone pics.

255/35/18 would be the max you could go with that setup.. That would also be pretty much the same circumference as your stock wheels and tires so your speedometer would still be accurate. The only problem is the stock suspension. You will have a 4x4 look due to the amount of wheelgap and the soft(ish) stock suspension might cause rubbing.

The 4x4 look is ok with me. Alaskan roads Aren't exactly flat or smooth. In most cases be lucky if they're paved lol
