So you have used the jdm dbw 32 bit ecu, and a 16 bit usdm harness? Avcs?

I'm looking forward to seeing you get everything working on this swap. What did you do for throttle control? Did you adapt the drive-by-wire system from the STi or did you swap to the cable system from the EJ207? Edit : I think you kind of tried to explain above but I'm still not following how you did the throttle control. |

You will love your swap. I enjoy mine everyday I get in and step on it. 8500rpm redline is bitchin. If you can get an adaptor plate made to adapt the Dbw throttle body to the jdm mani. It makes up a lot of low end power loss with the Sti mani. Good luck man.

Did you make an adapter plate or did you buy one? I'm thinking of making one but I'm worried of how it'll look. It'll lose it's "clean" effect. |

I'm running stock vf37 at 24 psi on corn with upgraded waste gate spring. You are right it doesn't hold power up top in higher gears but in lower its holds to about 8200.
I actually had a metal throttle adaptor plate made and welded it on the jdm mani. It looks clean and I welded it so I can rotate my tb. It helps as I'm still on tmic. |

I enjoy reading about these set ups. When my "one owner, purchased new 2002 Bugeye" finally got the dreaded rod knock at 132K HARD miles, I weighed my options and pulled the trigger based on the information I've read from lukeskywrx and Vladd back through the years.
I recently had a 2005 USDM chassis swapped into my bug eye. (Tranny, Brakes and suspension). I chose to go with a version 8 JDM motor and stay with the stock VF37 turbo (for now). Our gas up here is crap 90 octane. I was already using methanol injection (cooling mist kit) with my stock bug eye motor. We added a grimmspeed 3 port boost solenoid, a big CXracing top mount intercooler, a gates racing timing belt, a killer B oil pick up and a spec stage 3+ clutch during the install. I am running 650cc injectors. I have a cobb cold air intake, grimmspeed intake inlet and a 3' cat back Cobb exhaust. We mated the stock cast iron bell mouth housing to my old stainless steel Cobb down pipe. While we were at it, I added a dccd pro differential controller, a whiteline anti-lift kit and roll center kit to the suspension mods I already had completed (cobb F&R sways, kartboy end links, group N motor, tranny, rear, differential mounts, as well as the botox kit) I have tein coils on also, car handles like it is on rails. I picked the car up from my tuner last week and was messing around on 18lbs of boost just to give the car a good shakedown before putting it on the dyno this week. I ran 3 tanks of gas through it***8230;wow, what an animal. Loving the differences, the higher redline, the quieter engine bay, the change in the exhaust note, the tremendous differences in power & spool time. It is basically an entirely different car. With our current road conditions, I can light up my studded tires in 4th at will and sometimes 5th. Amazed at the weapon I now possess. I've won 6 local racing championships in the last 4 years in Rally X, Ice racing and Auto X with my old stage 3 bug eye. The locals know about my build but have no idea what is about to hit them. Anyone still on the fence about these swaps, get on board the crazy train. I will report the dyno readings once our work is done. Expecting good things. Yes, it's a common issue that seems to always be a wiring problem. Have them check the wiring.

Hey guys,
I just finished my swap and build! I have a V7 with GSC S2 cams and springs for the heads and a twinscroll GT3076 for a turbo. Hopefully I will have it tuned in a week or so after I break everything in. My only issue is tracking down why I have a P1306 cel (OCV open, passenger side) any suggestions? I know this corresponds to the solenoid but I am pretty sure of the wiring. |

Did you check if the screens were in the solenoid, and if so if they were clogged?

POINT me in the right direction
I thought I'd post here so I don't start a new thread.
I have an 02 wrx with low compression. I bought a complete JDM V8 motor minus the intake manifold and engine harness. So I will be using my old intake. My questions are: What all do i need to do, buy, or splice to make the avcs work on my car? This is what I'm buying |

Alot! Why are you buying that one? Is it a smoking deal? Most people buy a complete if not near complete motor/kit, including Intake manifold with fuel rails, lines, turbo, manifold, up pipe, downpipe, engine harness and ecu. The way it looks you might be better off buying a different kit as I'm speaking about. Or replace everything your missing on the jdm motor with your existing peices and just run without AVCS.

Yup, its a good deal! I need the heads off it. Seller already sold the manifold.
I want to keep the avcs. Would it be easy to go to avcs at a later date if I don't find all that is needed? |

i hope you have the matching ecu for it. If you don't, I think the old timers in the thread will punch you in the balls
It looks like a big wiring job. What are you planning to use for turbo and injectors? I also notice you didnt get the ac and ps pump, will your existing ones on your wrx just plug in? |

Is this the one with the cracked bellhousing portion on the short block that some guy bought on Craigslist for $200? He made a thread about it a while back.
