It sounds stupid, but for dealerships, they'd rather have sales reps that know nothing about the car, and are focused on the numbers and the sale, then an enthusiast who likes the brand too much and over sells a car and loses the sale.

I guess I'm the "wrong" kind of buyer. I want to know and talk specs. I'm really not concerned about numbers because I offer invoice+tax&registration, if they don't take that I go to another dealer, there's no counter-offering involved when I buy a car.

I've found a lot if dealerships have one guy who is there go to for the wrx/sti

Evergreen also has a services manager who is good. Can't remember his name but he drives an 11 sedan I believe and always is very helpful.

That being said I wouldn't consider myself to be the most knowledgeable one on here so you all are probably just way more hardcore than me
No they aren't all bad but I was at the Chicago auto show and heard it from 2 different reps a 3rd was talking about how subaru is " phasing out the sti".

So my wife wants an older sti. We found a 2005 at a dealership close by, had low miles, black leather that was beautiful. Car was super nice. Salesman claims he used to have one and is a subaru fanatic. I thought "sweet". Hes excited cause we pulled up in my wrx and was glad he could talk cars with somebody that is really into subarus.

Him: "Wait till you see under the hood! (pops hood) what do you see?"
Me: "fmic, intake, mishimoto radiator, perrin inlet"
Him: "hell yea! This front mount adds 40 hp" (as he is pointing at the raditor which had red hoses)
My wife: "thats the radiator"

He was stunned for a minute a didnt know what to say

For reference, car is a 2004 Outback H6 LLBean. Heard some good ones when I had it (Summer 2010 to May 2012; last 2 years of high school). It now belongs to my little brother, who's getting his license soon.

1. Friend: "Wait, is this another sun roof?? Oh my god, it is!!!!! Awesome!!"

2. Mom: "So, how are you liking the car?"
Me: "I love it haha. Could use a bit of tweaking though; sway bars, Legacy suspension, new brakes, and headers would do the job"
Mom: "I don't know what those are, but I don't want you putting them on"
Me: "But I'll pay for-"
Mom: "No."
Me:
*Update: Now in college and saving for either a 5MT swap or an LGT.

3. Little brother (after we've just driven most of Mulholland relatively quickly): *sniffs* "Hey, do you smell something burning"
Me: "Yes. My brakes."
Little brother: "Hold on, I'll go splash some water on them to cool them down."
Me: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!"

Had a few girls tell me they hump my car at night while it sits in my driveway. Unfortunately they're not very good looking. Had another ask why it was so loud on the way to dinner the other night and I couldn't help but smirk and say because race car. I did a first through second gear pull for her, she seemed to enjoy that quite a bit.

Salesman: how can i help you today?!
me: blah blah I need a lugnut
Salesman: um, i... i dont think we carry those??
me: you dont have ANY.. lugnuts?
salesman: well, whats a lugnut?
me: W.T.F. turned around and walked out.
left some decent pissed off drift marks as well.

Why in the **** would you ask a salesman for a part, why didn't you go to the parts department? And if you just happened to word your post wrong and you meant the parts department "salesman", why would you pitch a ***** fit and storm out rather than explaining better what you needed so you could just finish the transaction.

I swear, the repeat stories and the blatant asshaterey in this thread are getting a bit much.

Wasn't a phrase, but a stock white Civic SI with über cool black wheels pulled up to me in traffic at a red light letting the stopping of his car jolt him back into his seat slouching with one hand at 12 and staring at me with a hoodie and sunglasses on. I just laughed at him, so he red-lined every gear through the light while still in traffic, which i kept laughing at him as my lane moved faster than his. You're not a jackass Honda driver until you drive/act like a jackass Honda driver.
