Default A-Pillar Dash Rattle Fix

I figured while I was repairing my Map light rattle I would tackle the A-pillar rattle as well. There are threads here which link to outside sites, so I figured it wouldnt hurt to post an actual tutorial here since this plagues EVERY subaru Ive ever been in.

First, you will need a flathead screwdriver, a 10mm socket wrench OR philips screw driver, and foam tape such as the one I have pictured below. And a panel tool wouldn't hurt to have handy.

My foam tape is from home depot and was $8 in the isle with air ducting. I wanted enough to do 5 subarus and other things around the house.

First off, pop off the SRS air bag tab to get to the screw holding the pillar in place. I found it least damaging to push the screwdriver in vertically and not slightly angled like my picture shows.

Once the tab has snapped up, you can pull it off with your fingers:

Go ahead and remove the screw with a 10mm socket wrench or use a philips screw driver:

Once that is out the pillar is ready to yank off. I started at the top with a panel remover to get my fingers under and used my fingers to yank it evenly as possible outwards. Once it snapped in the outwards direction I applied some upwards pressure to pull the bottom clips out of their slots.

Here is a video of me yanking mine off for the first time to show how easy it is:
You can see how crappy the foam tape Subaru uses is in that video.

Now, yank off Subaru's tape and apply the foam tape over the same areas.

Thats it, put it back together by pushing the clips back into the slots on the dash:

Click the pillar back in and put the screw and airbag plastic clip back on.

Then do your radar detector if you have one!
