99% sure I saw a forum members ride (black hatch, rally bar, bike rack) from this thread at the OC Spring Opener today in NY. I couldn't believe the amount of nicely modded Subaru's at this show, insane!

I was in my Audi though, haha.

Has anyone rolled their rear fenders? Im curious to know what this is on the rear fender lip.

When I started rolling the rears this happened.

Now the inside of the fender looks like this when rolled and its not even flat against the fender. (looks perfectly fine from the outside)

Is it just me or are the rear fenders much harder to roll than normal? Maybe its just me. I cant roll it anymore because the lip just doesn't want to flatten out anymore.

So which of you have installed coil-overs yourselves? Any DIY's on NASIOC pertaining to our platform vehicle?

Almost certain its a paint sealant to prevent oxidation from starting there early. Mine came off as well. I rolled the rears pretty much flat when I did mine. I also resealed the paint where that protective backing came off of.

Did you use a fender roller or some other method?

How would I go about doing that? recommend company? And what should I be looking for?

I've only had it in for a day. I was expecting a quieter engine only because some of the boosted guys noticed that when switching to T6.

I use Blackstone Labs. Go to www.blackstone-labs.com You need to request an oil sample kit (free). Once you get the kit in the mail you can choose your payment type. Detailed instructions are included. Send in the oil, turn around date is a couple days.

They have average numbers for every engine type in terms of wear. You would be hard pressed to notice any bit of change instantly. What really counts when it comes to oil is how your engine is breaking it down. A $30 oil analysis here and there can save you thousands in the long run.

I ghetto styled it lol. Used a heat gun, baseball bat and my scissor jack. Had the stock steelies on while doing it. Paint didnt crack or chip. Only on the last front fender cuz I got lazy and didnt reapply the heat haha. Wasnt too bad though. I stopped as soon as I heard it. When I was done I just sealed all the rolled edges with plastidip for good measure.

Ok because thats what im doing heat gun rubber mallet and baseball bat. But for the life of me I cant get the rears to roll flat. In the rear its like they doubled up on the fender while the front is single. If that makes any sense

Always need more pics! On the topic of fender rolling, I did mine by hand (round plastic object and heat gun). I like doing things myself and I just took my time and made sure to get the paint really hot. I plan to seal the fenders with undercoating this summer when I redo my underbody.

Yeah the rears were a bit harder to roll while the front was no problem at all. How far did you roll them? Maybe you need to roll it a bit further out to help the fenders bend more easily. Only thing I can think of is to use the handle of the bat to push it in more (don't know if that makes sense). I use a diy method on the forums here for reference. What wheel size and offset you plan on running? Tire size also. Maybe you dont need to roll it flat to fit your wheels.

so i used my A/C today and i noticed that there wasn't much of a rpm drop or much loss of power. I think it may of been because of changing the coolant out completely. anyone else can confirm?

What were you doing when you turned it on?

At idle, the RPMs don't really drop. They kick up when the compressor comes on. If I'm driving and I turn on the AC, I notice an initial choke in power but that's it. Otherwise it's not noticeable.

This is what happens for me at least.

My AC always feels the same.. A small but noticeable loss in power. I counteract that loss of power by revving the engine out a little bit more, maybe 2 or 3 hundred RPM before shifting if I want to accelerate at the same speed. (5 speed) I have the 100,000 mile Subaru Super Blue coolant so I won't be changing it anytime soon- I have 30,000 miles on my car.

Any companies make a skidplate for our cars to protect the undercarriage?

They make panzer plates for Euro's so i'm guessing someone HAS to make some sort of beefier belly pan for Subarus. I mean Subarus are the leaders in rough terrain cars.

yeah, before it would always choke then the rpm would drop pretty fast in every shift. but it definitely feels like there isn't a huge load on the engine anymore
