Install was a breeze, ordered a 2.75" to 2.5" 90 degree silicone reducer and 2.5" silicone coupler to attach to the 2.5" tubing I bought from a friend. We used 1/2" brass barb fittings to tap into the factory PCV and tee'd the breather lines and ran them into my 2.5" intake tube. Went to the local hardware store's plumbing dept. for all the brass fittings and bracket to hang the intake (which is attached to the factory mount).

I did not reset the ECU so the car is still learning what to do with all the extra air coming in. There is a lot of intake noise on hard throttle, but if you drive normally the car still sounds stock. I also might add that throttle feels more responsive at highway speeds.
Thanks so much for the feedback Drewbaru! I think I have found an CAI in my area for a MAP sensor. Did you remove any of the intake pieces in the inner fender? Thanks again!

I removed everything from the stock intake. The stock intake on my RS did not have any pieces in the inner fender. Hope this helped!

That does for sure! Thanks. Found a well used Cobb intake that I am hoping to pick up and then will look at installation. Thanks again for the feedback and info!

Alright, so I've searched the web for hours and read this forum, scoobytruck, and others about unequal length headers for my 2005 subaru BAJA n/a. I've got it rigged up for offroading with an aftermarket muffler. (don't hate. I couldn't afford to put another exhaust on this baja after wrecking my old one)

Anyways. I hope somebody here can point me where I need to go. I would like to know what brand to look for and what will fit my baja.
Thanks!

So I'd like to here from the subaru community some opinions... I own a 2.5L 2006 impreza obs. I truly love it besides the fact that It's n/a and auto. It's my first Subaru and first car, I am 18. The subaru community is by far the best out there in my mind. I wish to someday swap the tranny&engine because of the fact I love the body and style of the 06.
Anyways. I would like to do anything in my power to make the car more appealing and therefore have installed fog lights and a rear wing and don't plan on stopping there. But I just don't want to rice the **** out of it because its only pushin 173 horse. And its auto for Pete's sake.
Future parts/mods I was thinking were - intake Cai/Sri, exhaust(who doesn't want a little rumble), mudflaps(I live in a rough terrain area with lots of gravel roads/snow/mud/anything plus they are so good looking), lightweight crank pulley, Suspension upgrades
(bushings,springs,swaybars,coilovers), lil bit o plastidip(rims/trim/gastank cover).
Yes, many people say just save your money and buy a rex but I think this car has a lot of live and potencial. Again any opionons are greatly appreciated.

Unhappy exhaust backpressure question

Hey guys I just have a quick question about my 1997 subaru impreza ouback sport. Currently I have an 02 WRX axleback muffler running on it, the main difference between this muffler and my stock muffler is an extra exhaust port (single vs dual about the same size). It also increases my exhaust diameter from the axle to the muffler from 2.25 to 2.5. Is this extra port hurting my performance by reducing my exhaust restriction? I kinda feel like going back to stock but this muffler looks much better.. and my exhaust shop kept my stock muffler when they welded this new one on. It has pretty good low torque with this setup. Thanks!

@TheBigWood809 check out rallysportdirect.com they sell a Blitz exhaust that will bolt right up without anything else needing to be done. It's made to fit a 2.5i's exhaust piping.

I just picked up a lightly used '07 STI cat back exhaust for cheap. All I'm going to use is the axle back section. I didn't want to spend a lot on a muffler that won't offer any performance gains. I'll be installing it tomorrow. Can't wait...

Thanks to New England salty roads and my cars age it wasn't easy but here it is. It was well worth the effort. It sounds deeper at idle and through about 2,500 RPM and it's not too loud at all. I'm really enjoying it. It's way better than the odd whistle my muffler had before.

If anybody needs some info on the swap let me know. I took a bunch of other pictures.

I just recently had a custom catback exhuast put in, it's a titanium n1 muffler with 304 stainless Well it's drones pretty bad I'm looking to ad one or the other in hopes of reducing noise. Which one will do a better job? MagnaFlow XL (3 chamber muffler) Vibrant Ultra Quiet series resonator

If I use the magnaflow XL this is how it should look when installed

I'm thinking about buying the spec d tuning exhaust. Comes with catback and axleback. I already looked into it a whole lot and I'm gonna have a shop install it because of the rotating of the flange and possible mid pipe extension. Any input as to why it why not this is a good exhaust for my 2006 2.5i
