2012 Carbon Fiber Trunk
So... creating this thread because I am contemplating purchasing a Seibon Carbon trunk and STi wing for my 2012 WRX, but I wanted to get some tidbits of knowledge before doing so.
1) Is it feasible to mount the carbon fiber STi wing on the carbon fiber trunk lid? Having no real knowledge of carbon fiber other than appearance and lowered weight, I want to make sure it is durable enough to support the wing. 2) Would it be relevant to purchase the STi trunk mounts to support the new wing, or will the weight change (from stock to carbon fiber) be lowered to the point that the WRX trunk brackets will support just fine? Thanks to those who answer. And any other facts of knowledge on this subject is welcome!

Carbon fiber is incredibly strong, and there is no reason why a quality trunk couldn't hold a wing.

STi tS lip plus STi wing mix
One of the carbon fiber trunks I'm looking to purchase has an evident lip on it, similar to the lip on the STi tS. Personally I kinda like the large wing and already have one to put on.
I was just wondering if anyone had any pics of carbon fiber trunks with the large wing that may have also had a little lip, or if anyone had really put both the tS lip and large STi wing on together. Thanks!! |
