How are you liking the MapDCCD?

I put one in the wife's car last year as all it had was a manual dccdpro. I spent some time last winter dialing in a pretty fun/useful custom snow map for it that I never really got to use until yesterday. I set it up so it turns great (stays unlocked) and starts to lock up quickly and progressively with throttle and speed. As you enter a slick corner, the first bit of gas can bring the rear out a bit and then applying more gas adds lock-up and the car pulls nicely though the corner. I had a lot of fun with it yesterday.

Have you played with the mapping much? If you want to try my snow-map, let me know!
I really like the control system so far. I've flipped through the included maps but mostly have just been on the auto setting and playing with different settings on the knob. Setting it low makes it really tail happy. Higher settings seem to lock the center diff very quickly with added throttle. Small throttle inputs show immediate response on the MapDCCD. It is obviously still unlocked at low speed, low throttle so there is no issue turning or normal driving. Seems to pull through very well.

My brother has a snow map, but I haven't tried it yet. He's had his a bit longer and has played with it a little more than me. He daily drives his car so it sees a lot more use than mine. I did get in 100+ miles since the tune though, so I have gotten some seat time. Mostly just commuting in the snow, not too much playing around.

You still have only control over the predetermined 59/41 bias built into the later model center diff. correct?

Correct, bias doesn't change. The controller simply changes the lock up based on given inputs.

You are confusing torque with lock-up. Its easy to to do.

The torque split is fixed, dccd does not change this. What it does is vary the amount of slip that is allowed in the center diff. Full open lets it slip about as much as possible so the rear wheels can spin as much faster than the front wheels as they can. Full lock does not allow any slip so if the rear wheels try to spin faster, the center diff clutch packs heat up, catch and force the front wheels to match the rear wheels' speed. Lock-up ratios in between open and full will allow different amounts of slip.

No I was referring to the torque split. I was just confirming that this did not change. Good explanation on the control of wheel slip though!

Although it may not do much, I say your next "mod" should be a prodrive front lip. It would just suit the car soo well

That's just the little one, right? I was thinking of that. Any chance you know of a decent one that's cheap? So hard to sift through all the eBay options.

Looks like $94. Not super cheap, but not too bad I guess.

Also, it looks white in the pictures, but it says it's black.

It is black, I have had to order two of them lol.

They fit pretty well and usually still have the prodrive stampings but the quality is definitely not the same.

Oh yes ebay quality, I praise thee. Far beyond that of Prodrive's.

Here is a video of the STX 71 (TD06SL2-GTX3071) @ 25psi on E85:

Video of the car running through the gears with the new motor/turbo/transmission setup. FFS'ing through the gears with wheelspin on the shifts (you can see the speedo jump during shifts). 50-100mph clocks in around 5.9 seconds. Seems about right for just over 400WHP and one shift in that range. The VF39 was mid 8-second range for 50-100mph so this is a pretty solid improvement.

50-100mph is 5.9 seconds

Oh yeah! I like it better anyway. I set mine above where I'm shifting so it's like no limit as well. I don't like using the FFS option. Without reminds me of my old foxbody mustang days

Cool video, it's hard getting used to this after seeing those PTE vids!

I really don't mind properly set up FFS. It allows you to shift pretty lazily with no consequences. Without it you really need to shift fast, and missed shifts can be trouble. But when it is well executed it feels great!

Not as fast as the 6266, or even the 20G XTR when I had full bolt on's and the boost turned up. But it's getting there. Hopefully I can squeeze a little more out of this turbo before I'm done with it.

What are you running for an ECU in this car?

Ahh - so what did you do with the heads in regards to AVCS? Just running without or did you do something else?

Your ECU supports the CarBerry rom which has some pretty cool features like speed density, LC w/ boost, FFS, etc.

If you ever miss a gear your engine is going to be like
