I found that Lowe's and Home Depot had the cans the cheapest in my area ~$6 a can (for black).
Personally, I'd just peel it off and start again. If the first picture is what you got with your first coat, that's part of your problem. The first coat is WAY too thick. Also, not knowing the weather conditions you were dipping in (was it cold/super humid?), could have impacted the drying as well. 30-45 minutes is also a really long time to wait between coats. If you were following anything the back of the can said, ignore it. As others stated, keeping the cans nice and warm and shaken up really helps with a nice even mist. My method is typically as follows:
I hope this helps.

i have a question, sorry if its already been covered somewhere in the last 44 pages....
what about wheel mounting and balancing? can i spray my rims, then mount and balance the tires? i suspect that won't work, but has anyone done it? |

I would be afraid of the process screwing up the dip. I just got a new set of winters put on and am doing the dip now for that reason.

If it does they sell a patch/repair kit that allows you to repair the dip without having to remove it all and start again from square 1.

If you are doing a standard color and have leftover you will be fine. Just have some Xylene on standby. When you get the tire mounted you'll need to lightly rub a little bit of Xylene over the areas that are damaged. Once that is dry touch it up with your plastidip. The purpose of using the Xylene (thinner) over the damaged areas is to reliquify the plastidip and make sure it is bonded to the wheel before you spray the touck up. |

I live in Maine, my car is fully dipped (see my photo above). Our asverage temp this winter has been about 15 degrees, we've hit lows of -20. I haven't had any issue whatsoever with my dip. My roomate has had his car dipped for almost 2 years now in Maine, through 2 winters, no problems whatsoever either. We never wash our cars.

I've done my scoop, grille, roof rack, front lip, and rear turn signals with black dip. (Don't worry, they're still legal. They're still visible from 100+ yards away in daylight, like Texas law requires. I just hated the amber but can't afford the JDM GT-B smoked tail lights at the moment) I still need to do the side skirts, rear skirt, and the bumper guard when it warms up/isn't rainy again. The all black accents look so much better than the stock mismatched black and dark grey accents, to me at least. I'm thinking about dipping the wheels in vintage gold, too.
