What years? I got a cts for a 95 impreza already and the tang on the bottom of the plug in didn't line up with the plug in. Im needing the on for the ecm, not the guage just to be clear.

Default Ej20gdw1ny vc gasket

Hello, I just bought a forester 98 stb and my valve cover are leaking.I've been searching high and low for these and two parts catalogue gave me 7 different gasket for one side. I really don't know which one to use. I don't want to open them up just to check which one I need because it's -40 here so I'd like to do the job once. Engine is Ej20gdw1ny. Need valve cover gasket left and right, spark plug tube, and bolt washer. Thank you

Anyone know the part number for the top gasket on the jdm ej20k style power steering pump, the one that has the square-ish finned reservoir on top of the pump? It is the gasket under the top lid. Thanks for any help

YOu need to remove the cover to see what gasket you need on any 97/98 EJ20G and EJ20K engine.

It sucks if you don't have the parts ahead of time. There's 3 different gaskets and you won't know which is which until the valve cover is off.

In my case, I am friends with a local JDM parts supplier... he gave me all 3 sets and I just used the 1 I needed and gave him back the rest.

I know, and the worst is subaru here tells me there is a 2-3 week waiting time before getting the parts in. I had to order one and hope for the best

Do you have the three parts number so I can see if they have them in stock just in case?

Default WRX 1999, Timing belt being chewed / Running Out

Hi Everyone!

So I have a weird critical problem, after a fresh rebuild, (bottom end assembled by machine shop heads reconditioned by same machine shop). The timing belt is wanting to run forward and rub on the back of the balancer and chew out the edge of the timing belt. This would indicate an idler pulley running out or a camshaft gear, tensioner, etc. Which I have checked and replaced all except for tensioner bracket (the piece that gets bolted to the block with three bolts and then the tensioner bolted to it)

This is not a problem with timing belt guide plate or incorrect fitment clearance of the timing belt guide plate! I am 100% certain of this.

I've checked the pulleys, camshaft gears/sprockets are all straight and in line by using straight edges and even removed all camshaft gears and refitted.

All parts are genuine subaru including head gaskets, etc.

The motor was rebuilt because of the lower toothed pulley failure (see two photos in below link). Since the rebuild the belt does not sit on the cam gears properly.

My only suspicion is that the cam gears are out of alignment because of incorrect machining of the head surfaces or some other problem that I haven't thought of. If anyone could shed some light it would be great.

i'm just about to go and get a new tensioner bracket just in case that's been bent from the timing belt failure before rebuild) even though it doesn't look like it, all the bolt holes that the pulleys bolt onto are in good condition and show no signs of warping the surface have the original factory machine markings.

I am really at my wits end about this, the machine shop has had the car and can't suggest any ideas except for spacing the crank sprocket forward by using washers behind it so that the belt does not creep forward and touch the back of the balancer (not a solution in my opinion and is just a patch up for a bigger problem)

Photo's here (the photos of the timing belt are with the motor having been rotated about 10 times and that is the natural position that the belt wants to sit in which should be about 4-5mm closer to the block allowing clearance from what I've been told):

I know this isn't the correct place, but you can pm me a response if necessary. What is the difference between a 97 ej20k wrx and a 97 ej20k sti intake manifold? I have searched and can find no pics or threads comparing in much detail? Maybe cause they are the same? Thanks in advance.

Hey friends, looked through this entire thread, so much great info.. anyways IO have a 97 WRX STI..

Where can I find the full rebuild gasket kit (110105aa390) and what all is in it?

Is there a way to piece this together from USDM parts so as to avoid lengthy ship times from Japan or UK?

I also need to replace the block to firewall (heater) hoses. Is there a USDM equivalent? or should I just use rolled stock?

EGT sensor part number? or US equivalent?

Coolant tank gasket?

Thanks a ton!

Looking for the coolant hose that goes from the throttle body to the hard line. Anyone have a part number? Or is there an aftermarket hose kit that includes this one?

Tried using rolled stock heater hose but it just won't make the tight bends.

Thanks!

You can buy sections of hose with sharp bends at auto parts stores, they keep random hoses in back designed for specific vehicles but you can cut off the excess and just use the section that fits. Some stores will let you go in back with an employee and pick them out.

I bought a cabin air filter for a 98 impreza to use on my MY98 ver4 sti wagon. It seems the filter compartment is twice the size of the usdm ones. Any idea on what year subaru or the right part number cabin filter to use, or am I just not installing it right?

I've been searching for hours on finding a replacement intake cam gear for the EJ20K. I can't find any info on what I can replace with, and I'm prohibited from creating a new thread unless I have more than 3 posts, hence my reason for posting in this thread.

Am I **** out of luck in finding a replacement USDM EJ intake cam gear, or is there one that I can replace with?
