Default 500 HP Ecoboost Mustang <$30k 2.3L

Here's How You Can Get A 500 HP EcoBoost Mustang For Under $30,000

http://i.imgur.com/u6zBRwP.jpg

Quote:
A certain Ford dealer in Ohio has become Internet-famous for offering some big power kits on brand new Mustangs for a song, pretty much. Their most recent offering will give you a 550 horsepower EcoBoost Mustang for under $33,000, which is a very nice step up from the car's stock 310 HP. Here is how you can do it.

Lebanon Ford first hit the scene with a Hellcat-killing 727 HP Mustang for only $39,995. Then they upped the ante by strapping on a Hellion turbo kit that is capable of a mind-bending 1,200 HP for $45,000. Now their most recent project adds a bigger turbo, and a tuning kit to the 2.3-liter EcoBoost Mustang and will give you a whopping 550 HP for the low, low price of only $32,995.

It starts with a base model EcoBoost Mustang with an MSRP of $27,095, then adds the turbo kit and upgrades for an additional $7,699. Normally this would total out to $34,794, but Lebanon Ford will give you the full package for $1,799 less.

A great deal? Yes and no.

Getting Shelby GT500 power for Mustang GT money sounds like a killer deal, except an $1,800 discount isn't all that great on an EcoBoost Mustang, especially when Ford is currently offering a $750 customer cash incentive. I pointed out not long ago that with some smart shopping you can get EcoBoost Mustangs for $20,000 or less.

Furthermore, there are numerous turbo kits that advertise a 500 HP car for around $3,000 to $5,000 before installation.

Therefore, it seems that while the LFP 550 car is a decent deal for a one-stop shop, getting your EcoBoost Mustang and turbo kit separately should net you the same performance and still keep the total cost under the $30,000 mark before tax and fees.

I should also mention that despite the fact that the LFP 550 is being sold through a Ford dealership those additional parts will not be covered by your Ford warranty. If you don't want to take a risk on your coverage you can get a factory authorized power boost for only $699, but you will only gain 25 horses.

If you want more power out of your muscle car you can either pay more for a pumped up version from the factory or have the aftermarket do it for less. Just make sure you do your research and get the highest quality parts and installation for your money. But if you need all that EcoBoost power right away, one and done, seek out this deal.

Here is how the LFP 550 breaks down:http://i.imgur.com/e2oQBZ7.png

$20k or less for new Ecoboost Mustangs? Man I hope you Americans realize how good you have it in regards to car pricing. Nobody in the world can buy cars at these prices.

Some cars, yes. There are plenty of cars which are a bad deal at any price.

Not sure about Mustang's but the reality is that many of these types of ads include all kinds of rebates that many people won't qualify for (military, loyalty, college grad, etc, etc). Still crazy deals, but Dodge pulls this crap too and I inquired about a Pacifica that was $10K off MSRP and I only qualified for like $6500K off because so many of the rebates were not applicable.

The other thing is these huge incentives absolutely kill resale. Especially for those poor saps who bought an ecoboost Mustang within the first couple years of release. Your $27-30K Mustang you bought is probably worth $15K now on a dealer trade-in.

The manager at the Lincoln dealer I worked for briefly used to qualify people for incentives they didn't qualify for all the time. Saw him do it,

"There's a military appreciation incentive here, did you serve in the military?"
"No."
"Do you appreciate the military?"
"Yes"
*checks box*

There's no real accountability for most of those incentives. Then again, I lost that job because Ford corporate caught that dealer doing something shady and revoked their franchise.

That's why I asked about warranty. Yes, there are plenty of reported blown 2.3 Ecoboost engines out there that were modified. But there are so many variables (mods, tuner, driver, etc). But any time you crank up boost and generate more heat, etc you are likely trading power for reliability.

Not really. Canada's offerings mostly mirror the US as few overseas automakers are going to go through the trouble of bringing a model over here just for Canada. We sometimes get options that the US may not get but that's rare as well.

Prior to the introduction of the ILX, I always kinda wanted a CSX-S. Now unlike a lot of the Acura cars that people like to claim are just badge engineered Hondas (which aren't), that was a legitimate badge engineered Honda. But one I wouldn't have minded getting here.

pretty sure your powertrain warranty goes out the window. maybe the specific dealer will offer something

That model was made for Canada because Canadians have less disposable income and the top selling cars are compact not mid size like the US so Acura felt they needed a compact model to get the volume required to operate individual Acura dealerships.

Yeah, I have a ton of family in Quebec (mom is French Canadian). I'm aware, I just wanted one.

For what it's worth, I am leasing a 2015 model 50 years edition Ecoboost Mustang with the manual trans. I'm at 34k miles right now (45k mile 3 year lease with extended 45k bumper to bumper warranty) and will turn it back in February 2018. A year ago I put a canned stage 1 tune on there (through an Accessport) from a vendor (MAP) because it came with the used AP. So I've had it for about 15k miles. It cranks up the boost a few psi and raises mid range torque, with a smaller bump in peak power. It definitely wakes the car up.

I would have gotten the Ford Performance tune but it wasn't available (and not sure if you can get it with a lease car).

I'm glad I leased it because the depreciation is really bad. If you want to mod a 4 cylinder turbo car these are great to buy. There are tons of parts available, don't worry about all the **** you read about on the forums of people blowing motors.

Well it is one thing to do a stage 1 (modest gains) vs doing more aggressive mods and tuning and pushing close to 600hp on a 2.3 liter turbo 4 cylinder.

And your right, I think there are some very safe tunes/mods out there for the Ecoboost Mustang (similar to WRX, GTI, etc). But nobody knows how long your motor is going to last when you are pushing 500+hp in these cars and likely pushing the limits.

IMHO, if you want to make big power just get the damn V8 to start with and go from there.

I mean sure, it goes without saying that if you nearly double the power of the engine the life expectancy will go down. But it's not so fragile that it's going to blow up with modest changes and a safe tune.

If you want to last a long time and be mostly hassle free with 500 horsepower, buy a vehicle that was engineered to do that from the factory.

You can go the Calloway route with Corvette as well and still keep your warranty. Pricey, but nice to have that option.
