Based on what my SDC dealer told me, I won't probably know until the car gets to port and assigned to me. Then I'll have about 10 days from that date to when it shows up.

Not a real update, but Ramsey Subaru just told me 6-8 weeks (June 28 - July 19), from now for their first orders. This lines up with their original 9-12 weeks from April 26th, when I ordered.

Cool. Think they'd have any idea on accurate ETAs for orders placed a little later than that? Like early May?

I placed an order for a WRX Sport (Canada). I've decided that I'll use the OEM 17" wheels for winter, but am trying to decide if I should get 17" or 18" rims for summer tires.

I would say:
18" for the look
17" for the money (tires) and performance.

I put light (18.6lbs) 18" wheels on mine (oem 17" are 24-25lbs). The unsprung mass is lower But I think I lose a bit in acceleration performance.

Background: Bought my 2012 STI from my local Subaru dealership by placing a new order in February 2012 and took delivery May 2012. Got it for Invoice + $600. Have done all of my oil changes and other maintenance with them.

Called them yesterday and talked with a sales guy on the phone to ask if STI ordering was open yet, and he said no. Told him I was interested, I had a 2012 from them, and I'd be interested in placing an order when it opens. After that call I came to NASIOC and read that orders WERE open. Today being Thursday and dealerships being open late, I decided to just stop by after work.

Rolled in there and talked to the same guy I had on the phone yesterday. Told him I read that orders were open, he grabbed his manager and it was confirmed they were open. (Way to know your business, sales guy)

So he dicks around a bit finishing some other work on his computer while I'm sitting there, then goes and gets the printed price sheets. He says there's a few ways to do this, there's a build your car option on the website or..., then asks me if I know what I want. Yeah, I know what I want, base model STI because I don't want a moonroof...

He starts writing down two columns on a piece of paper, MSRP+Dest and Invoice+Dest. As he's writing he says "Just for comparison, I don't think there will be many discounts here." After he finishes writing and starts to ask about options, I stop him there and say "Well, before we go on, I'm looking to get this at or near Invoice price."

He laughs and asks, "Why would you want that?" I don't answer and a second later he says, "Well, I know why you'd want it, but why do you think you'll get near invoice?" I tell him other dealerships are going at or near invoice and I can find somewhere else. He says okay. I get up and walk out. Also, good way to lose your service department all future business.

tl:dr: Anyone know a dealership near Metro Detroit (or surrounding states, I'd be willing to travel) that will order me a 2018 STI (w/ some options) for invoice?

Google Map subaru dealers and start emailing them against each other

Yeah when I told my sales guy I wanted invoice, he was like "where you get invoice pricing from?" So I pulled out my price sheet from here and that made it easier to negotiate.

I just got an update email from my dealer with a new estimated delivery date:

Order date: 28APR17
Original delivery timeframe: last week of June
New delivery timeframe (as of 19MAY17): 12JUN17 or earlier

I'll update the spreadsheet as soon as I'm on a network that doesn't block Google Sheets (-_-)

Nice!

Sweet!

It's exciting to see all these order ETAs being pushed up. Unfortunately they are all WRXs... It is killing me hoping for the STI orders to start getting bumped up.

I think with 2017 STi's still in the lots, they won't start production until later on, therefore our August dates.

Last year, my local dealer said the CVTs WRX were first, then 6MT WRX, followed by the STIs last. Not sure if anyone else had a similar pattern or not, or if we can expect the same pattern this year.

That's not really how Subaru plants are set up.

If you've ever been to Lafayette for instance an Outback in all different colors can come off the line behind a Legacy and followed again by an Impreza (at the time it was tribecca).

I would guess that Gunma is set up the same way.

just hoping a lot of us are not really waiting til august. Feel like I must have gone with a super low volume dealer. Guess it's the pain of going with the best price.

my thoughts exactly, I asked my dealer how they based allocations, if it had to do with the volume of the dealers and he told me no, but who knows though.

This might not be crazy. Last year, my brother-in-law got a 2017 CVT WRX off the lot, no order, on May 28th.

Here's my post from when it happened: https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho...0&postcount=92

My large volume SDC dealer said he heard from Subaru and a WRX had been assigned to me. I'm sure that is some amount of paraphrasing but it sounds like I have something in their allocation.

As of this week they do not have SDC invoice pricing.
