so as to not pick up and unbiased yaw and excess roll, closer to CG for the mounting, the better....but probably not very doable. Might place it up in front of the shifter up under where the stock radio would be.

And you're running the stock center diff??

That's exactly where the sensor is mounted. IAG machined an aluminum enclosure for the controller board that also houses the G sensor. The whole thing is mounted on top of the tunnel in front of the shifter. I may move it back several inches now that the shifter is gone.

Got the Cosworth manifold installed. It certainly looks nice, now let's see how much power it makes up top!

Absolutely love this build. Have been going to IAG since 09, my car probably has more time there than on the road Im looking forward to seeing your Samsonas sequential trans installed. I have heard its way more reliable than PPG sequential. How many K can you get out of it before a rebuild?

Apparently some are getting several seasons out of them before rebuilding, they are pretty stout.

Most dog box trans rebuild cycles depend on how well they're shifter. The better you setup those paddles, the more money it'll save you.

Yep, the paddles should help a lot with wear once they're set up correctly. A computer will time the downshifts better than a human every time!

Nothing gearbox related yet. But I have been working on fine tuning the aero for a bit more front downforce. Added some splitter end plates and still working on a few more small tweaks.

A little bit more aero work on the car this past weekend. I worked with DHP Composites on a custom set of barge boards, which I was able to test fit but still need to work out final mounting. This should help quite a bit with overall downforce by separating the vortices moving down the side of the car, as well as the turbulent wake off the front tires, from the high velocity airflow underneath the car and into the rear diffuser.

I also fabricated some carbon bumper spats, which will help create front downforce by stalling the airflow over the top of the splitter and creating high pressure zones. They should also reduce drag by redirecting air around the front tires.

Next order of business is to replace the front bumper latches with Quik Latch fasteners. Besides being an eyesore, they are actually large enough that they're probably disturbing airflow and interrupting the vortices coming off the dive planes. More on this later.

With the flat bottom retaining heat, cockpit temp can reach 130+ degrees. This new cool suit system from Ultra Chiller should keep me comfortable, rather than sweating out half my body weight during a 40 minute race. And it's only around 10 lbs fully loaded!

Going back to transmission talk. What oil did you run, and did you use an transmission cooler?

Been having trouble with the trans overheating. Was running 75W90, but switched to 75W140 Motul comp oil. Still having issues. Afraid it might be time to open up the trans after 10 years of track abuse.

I've been running Motul Gear FF 75W140. It was working for awhile but with the flat bottom, it just gets too hot. We're going to add trans and rear diff coolers, and I'm going to build some heat shielding to separate the downpipe from the trans case.

It's also possible you're just in need of a rebuild/new synchros. Buy my JDM 5/6 and install it while you're in there

Hmmmm...What state is your JDM 5/6 in? Does it need to be rebuilt at all? Will it work with the existing Diff and DCCD?

It's brand new, I never installed it. Was planning to but then I decided to do the Samsonas instead. It just replaces your stock 5th and 6th drive gears, and the 5/6 driven gear cluster. Everything else remains the same.

Not that this is really relevant to you with the sequential, but several of the factory 6mt's from the spec C (and I think other models) had an external line that fluid was pumped through for precisely this reason - disconnect the factory plumbing and connect an oil cooler, threads etc already tapped, pump already installed, ready & waiting

04-05 (and maybe 06?) USDM 6mt's are the same. Since the sequential uses the stock case, we will be using the internal fluid pump to circulate oil through the cooler. In stock form it's just a crossover that moves fluid around within the case but it's easy to replace the crossover pipe with lines to a cooler core like you said.

I think the external line features went away with the introduction of the GR cars (08).

Ugh it's been sitting in customs since July 26. Some jackass flagged it as "agricultural goods" so they can hold it for up to 30 days for inspection before they clear it. So ridiculously frustrating since it means I'm now going to have to bow out of Gridlife. Can I blame Trump for this one?
