Default FL 2006 CGM WRX 6MT, CLEAN, modded, low miles

Previous owner FS thread (unfortunately all pics and details removed, see my member journal for original mod list)

Let's jump right into the mod list. This list is the most up-to-date mod list assuming I haven't forgotten anything, so there may be discrepancies from what you see in my member journal. As you can see from the FS ad linked above, I paid $16k for the car. I then spent thousands of dollars in parts and time. I'm not looking to get back what I put in, as that would be an ad for a thirty thousand dollar car.

* means the part was installed as new

Alas, the time has come for me to entertain the idea of finding this car a new home. I purchased it in 2012 from a guy in New Mexico that was about to be deployed, with a short but sweet mod list (see member journal). In about a year I built the car up, daily drove it, raced it (1 road course, 1 drag race, a few auto x events), took it on road trips and eventually drove it all the way to Jacksonville, Florida where I currently live.

I LOVE this car, and would trust it to take me anywhere (I just made the 16 hour round trip to and from The Tail of the Dragon in North Carolina) but the wife is preggo, the baby is due in January, and Iíve already purchased a Forester to assume the role of dadmobile. The WRX is fun and loud and while those things alone donít disqualify it from baby-duty, the straight pipe exhaust smell and not-for-comfort suspension are too much for new lungs. I donít HAVE to sell this one but as I already have a work vehicle, my personal one doesnít get a lot of use anyway so 2 cars plus a work truck is just a waste. It spends a lot of time in the garage and thatís just sad. Iíve put about 25k miles in 6 years (the longest Iíve ever kept a car) so it sits more than it moves. I keep it on a trickle charger, start, and drive it occasionally.

The car is clean, but not perfect. The paint is good shape, but not perfect. There some minor dents and defects in the exterior of the car. It has spent a lot of time in the garage since I moved to Florida as I have my work vehicle. The interior is very very clean, with no tears or rips in any plastic of cloth that Iím aware of, but yeah, not perfect. Never smoked in. Everything works.

There are only 2 ďissuesĒ that I am aware of, none of which are major in my opinion. I may try to tackle the repairs, but I'm always short on time and I truly have never thought any of them to be serious enough to warrant immediate repair. If the remedy of these situations is necessary for a serious buyer we can discuss how that will work.

1. There is an occasional clunk that comes from what I sounds like is the front right corner of the car. I noticed it before my last 16 hour trip to NC and still took the trip, drove the dragon, and drove home without issue. I figure it's either the hub/knuckle which is a cheap fix but time consuming or lack of roller bearing on the coilovers.

2. Airbag light because of the JDM seats. I transferred the occupant detection bladder in the passenger seat (and it works!) but the side airbags are not present in these seats so I have a resistor in the plugs under the seat and when they don't make contact all the way the airbag light comes on. It's maybe 50% of the time and the fix would be to solder in the resistors or buy the plugs that subaru used to make for these (which just contain a resistor anyway).

There are some rare parts in this one (some that I carried over from my RSTi) so the value is there or you can part this back down to a stock WRX and make some good money off the sale of mods. This is not a ratted out, abused car. I take care of my vehicles (again, read my member journal). I use quality parts and try to do lots of research before I do the work. Red gauges and blue interiors were never for me, so (in my opinion) the interior of this car is nicer than any 02-07 STI.

The car is paid off, but Florida has gone digital so you can order a paper title if needed.

First photo below was taken as of the writing of this ad (wire hanging out is trickle charger because I rarely drive it). If you want any photos of something specific or not in the journal, just let me know. Thanks for looking!

Nice ride!
It is a WRX right, not STi?

I also didnt see how it was tuned, ECU? Maybe I missed it in the list.

Heya, thanks for the questions!

Yes, by VIN, it is officially a WRX. Hard to tell with all the work done though as I've got a lot of STI-or-better parts installed.

It is Open-Source tuned. A friend of mine that used to help with tuning for a shop in Chicago tuned my car with Rom Raider. The next owner could use a laptop (RomRaider and ECU Flash) to continue to tune and monitor or switch over to an AccessPort and start over. This is not needed btw, the current tune has been in place for years and is reliable.

Good questions, let me know if you have more and/or are interested in purchasing.

Any chance this is just strut clunk from the stock struts? My STi had this, and i just packed it with more grease and it went away, pretty common issue with the GD.

Thanks!

FortuneAuto coils. I thought it was binding from not having radial bearings, but I can get it to happen consistently with a quick jerk of the steering wheel. I'd have to take the wheel off and investigate more to get accurate.

Bump. Drove the car a bit today. Local roads, the highway, then to the grocery store. Still so fun. Someone buy this before I revert to stock and sell a vanilla WRX instead!
