Default 2002 wrx 5MT(wagon) transmission compatibility?

My trans has 215k.
I was looking at jdm trans from j spec
(5 speed) but itís for a sedan. What transmissions will work with the wagon axles? Are the sedan vs wagon trans the same, minus axle length? I know the rear diff must match the trans final drive, only thing Iím not sure of is if my axles will fit ďXĒ transmission. Jdm or Usdm.
Any help or insight is much appreciated. Iíve looked through the forums but not really finding anything ďWagonĒ specific 2002 etc.
thank you

The transmissions are identical between the two body styles, but someone else will have to chime in on compatibility from one model to another.

You need a trans that has stub shafts sticking out from the diff.

Stock 02 axles are female axles, the length makes no difference.

The compatibility issues is matching the final drive of the trans to rear diff.
Stock is 3.9 final and 1:1.1 transfer ratio. So if you donít get the stock same ratioís you need to swap the rear diff with the trans you order.

Sorry Iím still a little confused on the axle part.
The trans Iím looking at is a 4.44 final drive that comes with the rear diff and axles. It does have the stubs sticking out where the front axles will mate. Does the rear diff need stubs too? I thought the rear axles were male to male? And front were male to female? Also the seller states itís a direct replacement for my exact transmission code. Just want to be sure everything will fit right. Thank you

Just the fronts are female c/v axle to stub (male) trans , the rears are male axle into the rear diff housing.

Thatís fine itís a direct FIT replacement but you HAVE to swap the diff that matches the trans installed. If you donít swap the rear diff you will break something.

Thank you for the response. Iím assuming the trans that comes with the diff are matching. I would certainly hope so lol. Definitely donít want to blow a diff or trans on mismatched ratios

Personally Jboy I would do a google search, or go talk to a Subaru rep. They will know exactly what you need based on your model. I know the clutch etc has to match that trans to work I believe.
