2020 Acura TLX Type S
Quote:
http://acuraconnected.com/2018/11/21...ra-tlx-type-s/ We know Type-S will return, but we don't know when, or what model will be first to wear the badge. Based on these photos and the fact the second-generation TLX is looming, one could assume there will be a TLX Type S as early as next year as a 2020 model. Carscoops has posted some new photos of a camouflaged Acura prototype testing with an Audi S4 and AMG C43. The car is heavily padded, but there's no denying its an Acura grille. There's not much else given away, but we do see an intercooler and massive quad exhaust tips. No change of an MT option, I'd assume, right?
Do we know price range also? |

We need DWS back on this car, paired with SH-AWD that would be awesome. Needs MT as well.

Awesome. The more competition, the better. To me they need to still do some work on the front end styling; and the interior is not even approaching luxury levels in my opinion it it's current state. Seats are good though.

Headlight positioning in reference to the grill does not look promising.

Perhaps this may get Subaru to consider bringing back the Legacy GT. I'd be interested, as long as no super crappy mpg.

Rest assured, they will deliver a kick arse STi to make up for it. Word is Double Wishbone is coming back, better weight distribution, advancements to SH-AWD and Twin Turbo V6. MT likely not, but depending on what’s offered this could be a great package for the TLX. |

I’m holding of because of this model. No manual isn’t a biggy for me, the comp s4 and Merc. Has auto only too. Honda auto are pretty good, like 04 Accord V6..put in 2 starts from a stop stays there to redline and holds it. same with all cogs, shift nice into every gear, drops down when you grab a lower gear, even grabs first in motion. 5 speed, but it didn’t have 4th on the shifter was the only flaw. Now how the new unit is ?? Lol, The automatic in the S4 kinda sucks , hard to explain just doesn’t feel sporty for S model.

Acura releases this car and KIA comes back with a Stinger-R and tears it into pieces at a discount..?
These luxury sports sedan segment imho are so yesteryear it's silly Acura is even putting effort into this car (and that silly looking ILX refresh they recently released no one will buy). If they want to answer to car enthusiasts, they need to bring back a smaller coupe/vert with SH-AWD and MT-only for under $50K. And it doesn't have to be the fastest car around because with Telsa roaming the streets it's no contest anyway for most gasoline powered cars. Their RDX and MDX are much more appealing offerings for this segment.. imho. |

I know they dropped them off the Civic in 2002, the Accord and Acura models followed around the same time. If I recall, the DC2 was the last Integra to have it.

Looks like it will have 3 engine types like this page reported: https://autospix.com/2020-acura-tlx-type-s/
And this is the MPGs based on 2019 EPA mileage ratings: 2.4L inline-4 P-AWS MPG rating: 23 city, 33 highway and 27 combined. 3.5L P-AWS MPG rating: 20 city, 31 highway and 24 combined. 3.5L SH-AWD MPG rating: 20 city, 29 highway and 23 combined. |

So no turbo after all, just the same 290 hp V6?
I think an ILX with 2.0L Type R motor and SHAWD would be a huge hit, especially with Acura's more mainstream (boring) styling. |

Acura should just dump the sedans and make only SUV's.

Lets see maybe I read it wrong AutospiX – At the moment, the Japanese luxury brand declared a new turbocharged V6 engine and also claimed it could combine with the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). Nowadays, some spy shots show the 2020 Acura TLX Type S is on its way to returning and ready to hit the car dealers. Couple paragraphs down from that one Beneath the grille is the thing that perfectly may be an intercooler, which will boost the concept. There exists a turbocharged engine laying below the hood. And possibly at the rear, we discover TLX’s dual exhaust systeM. |

Then they updated with a boner killer on Mar 30. Update: March 30, 2019 Acura has confirmed on its 2020 TLX’s official page that new model will offer V6 Intelligent Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (i-VTEC)engine both for AWS and AWD. What’s new on this is Acura give its buyers new features for both powertrains, like V-6 Precision All-Wheel-Steer (P-AWS) and V-6 Super Handling All-Wheel-Drive (SH-AWD). Both 3.5L V-6 i-VTEC P-AWS and SH-AWD powertrains will produce 290-hp with 9-speed automatic transmission and sequential sportshift paddle shifters. The different is exists with its gas mileage. See the list below. |

This blowzzzzz big time. So tired of the J series SOHC V6. Give us an old-NSX inspired DOHC V6 with a 8K RPM redline.
