I guess it goes back in line with all their other engine work. I seriously hope that I get some sort of special treatment in terms of getting bumped to the front of the line since Iíve already waited 5+ months for the longblock to be assembled.

Thanks, I'll be pushing to get this process expedited for sure. I'll keep the thread updated with any news that I get.

Nothing to report about the motor but I did receive the Autopower race roll bar, whiteline 24mm rsb and soul function trunk kit. Looking at those boxes sitting in my garage is like a kick in the pants after basically losing the last 7 months with no end in sight.

The soul function kit seems to be very good quality and was very well packaged, I'll take some pictures of it once I get some more motivation to touch subaru parts.

Preliminary report is that I have two warped ringlands due to heat, Iíll know more Monday. IAG is covering everything so I definitely give them props for that but I could have saved a ton of money building my heads if this was diagnosed properly in the first place so Iím a little salty about that but whats done is done and now Iíll have a fully built motor minus cams and sleeves/closed deck.

My wife has convinced me to keep it since Iíve spent so much time and money getting it together so Iíll be racing the hell out of it as long as it will let me.

Sucks to hear.

Tempted to pop a complete JDM motor in it and move on to something that doesn't take two years and counting to get on the road?

I've about a quarter of the time you do trying to get the car on the road and healthy and I'm about done with it.

Ive been very tempted, I was shopping Porsche Cayman S and R32 GTRs until I got word on this. If I have even the slightest mechanical hiccup related to the motor it WILL be sold and Ill be buying something that wonít leave me off the track for an entire year. I knew the Subaru reputation heading into this but figured it was just sensationalized forum garbage but Iíve completely lost my patience, time isnít something I can get back.

Apparently but Iím supposed to hear back on their final conclusion tonight or tomorrow. They are owning it and covering everything so that is a positive but I do expect it to be completed like yesterday so I can get back on the track.

As promised, here are the pics of the Soul Function trunk kit and Autopower race roll bar. I'll be welding some very large/thick backing plates under the car for the roll bar to bolt to so I don't have to worry about the thin sheetmetal giving way in the event of a roll over.

I'll also be PCing the soul function bars as the teal is not my cup of tea. I don't know if I want to try and match the Cusco blue or if I want to match the wrinkle red in my engine bay....

At the very least I should have very little chassis flex but I really need to rebuild/revalve/respring the 441s to get the most out of it

Well it’ll be 7 months tomorrow since I dropped my longblock off at IAG with no ETA in sight. I’m not a happy camper at all, I can not believe the lack of urgency they are displaying despite the fact that I’ve now given them $7k+ for this longblock alone and I have nothing to show for it. Couple that with the fact that if they had done a proper diagnostic before selling me the parts and labor to build my heads I wouldn’t be in this situation at all and it may help casual readers understand my growing disenchantment with IAG.

Tldr- IAG told me I had valve float after I installed their stage 2 short block and followed the break in procedure to the letter. I pulled my longblock and brought it to them to tear down and rebuild my valve train/heads. They failed to inspect the short block during disassembly/reassembly. Waited 23 weeks for the rebuild when quoted 16 weeks. Reinstalled motor and dropped it off to get a JR tune just to find out I had low compression on two cylinders due to warped ringlands rather than valvetrain issues. 3 weeks have passed since I dropped it off, no eta yet. I’ve been nothing but accommodating and I haven’t made the slightest sound voicing my displeasure on forums/social media until now but my patience is gone.

Call iag and they'll swear on their life they have no more than 1-2 issues a year with their motors. Lol.

It must be beyond frustrating.

Yup, I drove it for 12 months after I bought it and Iíve been waiting for a running engine for the remaining 7 months(not including the initial shortblock replacement and break in miles as those have nothing to do with IAG).

Finally got an update on Friday. The motor is being reassembled and is scheduled to be dropped back in the car on 7/17, next date for JR at IAG is TBD in August so I may just have to sack up and get tuned by someone else. I love JR's work but at that point I will have been without my car for 9+ months and I'm just tired of waiting.

It is a shame that Iím going to take a massive loss on the car after getting less than one seasons use out of it. It also sucks because Iíve wanted to track an STi since 2004 and it shattered my dreams but at this point I need something that will actually be on the track and Iíd like to run a platform with a larger aftermarket like an LS platform so Iím never held hostage like I have been on this car. More vendors, more competition, better customer support and lead times.
