so we get a sedan with way nicer interior and comparable power to a 19 WRX?
am I reading that right? Albeit probably much heavier. |

So, like, where's the freakin' exhaust? This isn't like the 2000-2004 where they tucked it up under the rear bumper out of sight, I hope...

It could also use a hood scoop if the top mount stays. Differentiation from the lower models should be a good thing. Sleepy didn't work out so well for the Forester. Turns out people like a little sporty drama in their appliances.

Turns out people like a Forester Sports without need for a top mount too!

Yep. I just don't get the sleepy turbo model. Neither did anyone else.

Jesus. You wax poetic about your 05 LGT with hood scoop. Well, when Subaru kills the Legacy XT for lack of sales and replaces it with orange trim sport model you can remind us of the superior engineered duct work.

There is nothing superior about the intercooler placement on the newer xt’s. Its a heat soak nightmare. But of course its brilliant to you like anything and everything subaru shoves down your throat. They could put 4 wheel drum brakes back on and you would applaud it.

I could count the complaints I ever heard about the Forester XT losing it's hood scoop almost on one hand. Premium fuel and MSRP? That's a completely different story. I would wager a good steak dinner it wasn't the looks that killed it. |

Maybe they can go with a chain drive, too.

You tell me which is which on Subaru’s site I linked. I honestly can’t tell and would settle for pretentious just to tell the damn things apart. |

Old people don't like to have to hit high rpms to "go". They like to barely hit the gas pedal and have some oomph, but also, never floor it. They opt for the comfort of partial throttle, low/midrange over having to slamming the foot to have any soft of "go"., and that's where the 2.4T will come into play over the other engine. --kC |

Its hood scoop, as much as it was aesthetically integrated into the rare work of art that car was, was in the end a limitation no aftermarket TMIC could compensate for. We all knew it and loved it anyway, most keeping it after a FMIC. Quote:
I said ducting, which is superior in more than one way, but primarily cooling efficiency. And if there would be anything more silly than a honking STi hood scoop on a Touring XT I can't think of it... unless maybe a nice little fake one, the kind some think gives a sporty "performance" look on... never mind. Hood scoops are an advertisement for a compromised intercooler, only appearing as a performance badge to the uninitiated. Quote:
But I will agree on some differentiation... be it paint, body, exhaust... something. In that way, the new LXT is disappointing to me, too. Its looks, however, like the looks of all other vehicles today, are ruined IMO by the regulations that mandate the pug noses. Otherwise the new LXT is OK... in the same way BMWs are: Bland. But could you imagine a hood scoop on a BMW... Some people buy things for looks, some for less obvious reasons, like performance. Personally, I prefer both, and got it in the '05 LGT. But my favorite cars of all have been those that were wolves in sheep's clothing. My FXT is a little like that. The new LXT will be like that... and AM and I could fix the rest. The FXT, no so much LOL. In the end I don't like many modern cars. Too big, too heavy, and mostly ugly. A product of the lowest common denominator. But the LXT has at least been provided an engine worth owning. It may very well be short lived, because as much as I would own one I won't. It's too low for my world. And I suspect I'm not alone. |

Who said anything about a honking hood scoop? Why wouldn't a BL/BM sized hood scoop work? I'm not suggesting putting an STI park bench spoiler on it. I can't think of a single Subaru that looked bad because of a hood scoop. This is Subaru. Not Toyota or BMW. Hood scoops are kinda their thing in the US. Although people are willing to pay extra for the Trail trim on their 4Runners so maybe hood scoops are cool. Pretentious ostentatious whatever, if it moves higher priced trims what's the big deal? Can't believe I'm arguing this on a Subaru site. Hold the hood scoop and big helping of CVT please. Down is up up is down.

The nice thing about the price of the Touring is there are no option packages. It is fully loaded. That's your price. Only way to increase the cost are accessories. With a Legacy, I don't see what else I'd want except floor liners and maybe a roof carrier.
