that's a honda engine taking pole on pure pace.

Also showing the diff between a clear cut champion and an average F1 driver.

Poor Max. Looks like Red Bull got caught napping.
Where the hell is Ferrari this race. 1 minute behind!

definitely - RBR should have realized that this was a possible threat - especially since HAM was faster than VER at that stage of the race.

Caught napping not just once, but twice - first right after the pitstops where HAM closed the gap from 6s to the failed pass, and then when he pulled into the pits.

Forget Ferr - where the hell was the rest of the pack, it was literally a race between HAM and VER and then everyone else.

BOT had some piss poor luck (and HAM and LEC excellent to suffer no tyre damage) with the two taps he got in the space of 2 corners to end up where he did.

GAS - is just terrible. That is just not acceptable - losing 3 positions off the line can be explained to the medium vs. soft tyre choice, but staying in that position most of the race is pitiful.

Red Bull had about a half lap to make a decision when Hamilton pitted that last time.

On the radio they said that if they'd boxed Max on the next lap he'd have come out behind Hamilton. Maybe so, but at least Max would have been on fresh tires to make a race of it.

We'll never know but it looks like RBR missed that one.

Another great race. Kudos to Verstappen for handling the loss so well. Hopefully we see a lot more close races between these two.

Yep another poor performance by Gasly. Gets lapped my Max too.

Maybe Redbull should of forced this race into a 2 stopper by pitting Max before lap 49.

Exactly! At the same time was it Hamilton's decision not to pit early on to see if RBR "blinks" first, or was it his team that said to stay out? The crew came out, waited, then waited some more, went back in, and then came out to wait for another lap.

I want to feel bad for Bottas. I want him to be respected more but dang it sometimes I think he puts himself in situations like today's with the front wing and last week when he flew to close to the sun and literally lost it.

Battle between Hamilton and Verstappen was excellent, other than that, there was not much to the race in my opinion.

Was hoping Bottas would keep it together after his first lockup, but glad Hamilton and him stayed out of trouble the next corner. Unfortunately met Leclerc's tire.

How about Sainz yea?!

Toro Rosso crew was not entertained with Albon and Kvyat's battle.

Oh and I forgot Ferrari was there racing too.

Kind of surprised there was no action on the incident with Bottas and LeClerc. LeClerc really seemed like he just randomly drove across almost the whole (fairly wide portion) of track and tagged him and then went back to where he was for no particular reason.

He needs to learn how to pass though. When he has free track, he's got great pace, but as soon as he's behind someone, he goes all Gasly.

Ok so forget everything said about Max...
The guy is a star.

Yeah Lewis ate him up, but even Lewis knows that trick won't stick again.

How did he have bad luck? He did that to himself on the start, then suffered the consequences the rest of the race.

Sucks Redbull didn't take the more risky strategy because I think in the end it would have paid off. I get where they're coming from tho, first pole for Max.. doing the safe thing and hoping just to defend at the end. Although how did they not realize Maxs tires would be gone with 5 laps to go?

LeClerc just swung over and tagged him for no apparent reason. Can't see any argument that Bottas did it to himself.

You can see a slight right movement from Bottas on the helicopter shot.

The overhead shows Bottas moving over to his right just before contact. Can't really see that from the onboards but if you watch the gap between Bottas' car and the line you can easily tell he moves over.

Yeh, his lock up was 100% his fault, but getting tagged twice (the first was a racing incident caused by him having that flat spot and bad exit) was not his fault - and what ruined his race. He arguably could have been challenging for the podium had the contact with LEC not happened (even after losing the position)

Man you guys are like people trying to justify the police shooting a black kid.

Bottas corrects his angle because he's pointed off-track to the left, and turns in towards the corner. It's super clear from Vettel's onboard.

LeClerc crosses half the track, hits him, then moves back to the racing line and you're looking to blame the guy he hit.

Sooooo, where did I mention that it was Bottas fault? Sure he was squirming for 3 turns, and ultimately tagged with Leclerc. Perhaps the fact that Bottas locked up in first two turns, and struggled to get his car under control is the reason why the FIA did not pursue an investigation and left it as an on-track incident. Racing lines all tend to disappear on the first lap when 20 cars make their way on the same piece of tarmac. They look at all the telemetry and angles they have. But sure, lets introduce police shootings into the motorsport thread.
