Hopefully there will be some Bilstein/Pinks available from JapanParts. Overnight them.

I'm putting the Bilstein Performance Plus setup on my BP GT with sways and HR springs. I'm not sure how I'm going to feel about it when its all said and done because I'm old and sore. Wanna get feedback on the new cars and a similar setup before deciding the route I'm going next. So yeah I'm jelly. But I'll be patient and let you first adopters drag me in...

I am enjoying a new 2020 Ascent right now. Almost bought the Outback XT as the new interior is quite nice looking, but for a few grand more the Ascent provides a metric ton of more room. Of course it weighs as much as the sun, but the ascent makes subaru number 10. I do miss the ridgeline though.. such a great truck.
Nice - we might be getting one in a few weeks. Got a VIN on one in transit.. Test driven 'em about 6 times.

Lots of things to love.
Quite a few not to love. The high-dollar HK stereo SUCKS, and is a major step back from our HK stereo in the '14 FXT, for one.

COBB REALLY needs to get a Stg1 AP for it, asap.

(Whispers - and it wasn't a turbo)

Are you trolling? 3rd gen outback = 4th gen Legacy. BP platform. 2005 - 2009 Model Years. Turbo.

I am coming from a 6 speaker Honda Ridgeline stereo which I thought was fine

So this thing rocks!

Not as good as my Audi was though

So COBB posted a teaser vid on the Ascent. Looks like Stg1 is happening. Woot!

I cannot imagine... some something that weighs as much as the sun, it really moves out of its own way stock. The lack of gears seems to help turbo spool up quicker.

The current synergy of the engine and cvt is what makes this Impreza acceptable. And it's improving all the time... I just had a reflash, for an ignition recall, and apparently the reflash included updates that have taken place in the 10 months or so since it was built. The results are amazing, even on a car I enjoyed before. It's response to the throttle is smoother and better now under any conditions... cold, hot, putting around or accelerating, it simply works better than it should given the horsepower and the way it was pre-reflash.

Subaru is learning, and more importantly passing it along. They are obviously on a mission to have customers happy. Providing solid cars that work better than expected, like your Ascent and my Impreza, is the result.

Makes me wonder what this Impreza would be with a FB2.4.

How does your Ascent handle? Also better than you thought, I'd bet.

Good times ahead. Almost excited to see if the new WRX/STI are a slam dunk.

I am naturally not pushing it hard as it has its own gravitational field, but every day I drive it I am shocked at how it changes direction willingly and with some eagerness. You can feel the torque vectoring helping you.

Also I have just passed 60 miles and you can tell the car is learning how I am driving it. Shifting today is smoother and more responsive than shifting yesterday. Going from park to drive to reverse also seems zippier.

I do not have a bad thing to say about how this car drives. It does make we wonder how much fun a Legacy or Outback XT would be as that 2.4DIT is a peach of an engine.

This is off topic but what's the cost to have a dealer flash updates to the ECM or whatever if you're out of warranty? My '16 Legacy is tuned terribly - can't tell if its a CVT issue or what.

You should know better. Take it in and they'll give you a new engine and trans.

My hope is I can weasel my way in with the extended CVT warranty and maybe they can fix something.

Nothing sounds better right now. Then again, a $3k+ add-on should sound excellent. I know it sounds crazy, but this is one of the main reasons I'd get an S60 T6 RDesign (since the V60 is now only T5).

we all have our individual reasons for buying things. All reasons are perfectly cool. I just discovered the joy of a heated steering wheel for the first time about 15 minutes ago..

wow...

It will be interesting to see if COBB will release the stg 1 for the Ascent. The HTCVT in the WRX melted pretty quickly when they tried a stg 1 on it.

Peace,

Greg

It was an OEM option for your Ridgeline. But I remember you don't mod because you don't keep anything long.

I got my first heated wheel in 2014. That + seat heaters and I don't use HVAC in the winter unless I need to defrost.

I never thought I would enjoy a heated steering wheel so much myself. That and ventilated seats for the summer and bad burritos.

I'm right there with you my friend; there's a leftover 2019 V60 T6 at a dealer near me with the B&W system and I want it bad .
My wife and I got a 2018 XC90 demo (196 miles on the ODO) back in September (2011 Forester be gone !) with the same B&W system; I still can't believe how clean that system sounds; it's just nuts !

One of the reasons I got a 2015 Charger RT with the "29R" package back in 2014: heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated seats, heated rear seats that my daughter enjoys right about now as it's getting chilly in the mornings (I know, I know, 50F is not anywhere near truly chilly ).

Correct. It will be interesting to see if they overcome that hurdle. The Ascent now has a CVT cooler, which may help. But, there's a handful of people with issues with theirs under normal circumstances, never mind adding power.

you are only half right. I used to mod every car I had. Up to and including my Outback XT. Then it dawned on me it was completely pointless for the kind of driving I had started doing, which was 90% commuting. I then started buying cars that were right from day one, versus buying a lower trim and making it my own. If a car did not have an option I needed, it was not the right car. Simple

Exactly. And once the car count goes up you can go a normal commuter and focus on those fun projects. Like your Z. Like my RS and Legacy. I'm contemplating getting a BRZ and doing the rocket bunny LSx swap thing rather than an EJ207 swap in the RS. The newer chassis is just so much better and AWD really isn't needed with two AWD cars already in the stable. I got 3 AWD vehicles. Bonkers.

Same deal on the Ascent - a $3K option SHOULD sound great. Itís crap. Of course Subaru bundled the moonroof with the HK stereo (we absolutely donít want or need that ridiculous heavy moonroof) but we do need the better stereo (no aftermarket swap possible) which forces us into the $3K bundle, yet the top HK is very subpar.
After much fiddling I got it so I didnít want to dig my eardrums out, but itís still lacking. Such an easy fix to ADD BACK via software the 7-band EQ like our FXT has, but they cheaped out. Why step backwards in sound quality on a PAID, expensive option? Just stupid on the top high-dollar offering.

Two big middle fingers for you Subaru. GFY
