If we put both compact WRX and STI aside for a minute, we're left with pretty much nothing.
That's how I ended up with a Charger RT back in 2015 instead of a Legacy 3.6R.
Why the R/T over the all wheel drive charger GT??

Unfortunately, the V8 AWD Charger RT disappeared after MY2014.
The only way to get a V8 AWD Charger is to get a law enforcement Pursuit model with the older 5-speed auto tranny.
The Charger GT does get the ZF-8 speed but it's V6 only.
I went for RWD V8 instead. Replaced the stock all-season tires with 3-season Michelin PS4S, swapped out the stock open diff with an LSD and left everything else alone.
So far, I'm a happy camper, very good fair weather roadtrip car, very satisfying drivetrain and surprisingly good handling given the huge curb weight.
But, then again, the original plan was to sell my 06 WRX Wagon back in 2014 to get a MY2015 WRX hatchback or MY2015 WRX Wagon a.k.a. Levorg...

And, even then, they're acting like wagon lovers with deeper pockets don't know about the AMG wagons that MB has been steadily and consistently offering since MY2005.
If I had to spend over 120K OTD on a wagon, I'd have to go with an E63S.
Then again, E450 wagons are looking pretty good to me.

Are we... Are we the same person from different universes? I was in the same boat with trying to replace my car in 2015, no hatch and the crap stock tune made it a no go for me with Subaru. I was looking at R/T's but decided I wanted an R/T scat pack after I sold my 06 wrx wagon (also looked at Chevy SS 6mts... but hens teeth are too expensive). I ended up in an RWD IS350 instead; about the same money as an R/T on the used market, and the same straight line performance (lighter, fewer cylinders) and better handling; granted I don't have the V8 noises, but I'll have longevity on my side. The scat pack is obviously faster, but more money and uncomfortably rare in my area, also, FCA reliability to contend with. I'll have to get my V8 fix from my project car.

I saw a (slightly older) 392 on the highway during my commute yesterday, he decided to merge in with the loud pedal as his lane dropped off, the sound was glorious, could hear him until he let off and he was probably a good quarter mile ahead by then.

IF a 6mt FA2.XDIT Levorg came over, I'd probably dump the IS350 for it; I love wagons.

I see lowered Outbacks, Foresters, and Crosstreks(yeah. don't quite get that one either). I mean, sure, if they want to spend the money on lowering it, I guess they could spend money on a hood, fenders, headlights and a bumper from another market.

But the pic is gone, so......

Because some people want a wagon not a CUV/SUV and there are exactly ZERO options on the market in that size/price bracket.

The crosstrek one - if you want a specific combo, like say a 6mt (instead of 5mt) and climate control (because impreza 5mt + climate control is not a combo you can get in the US), the crosstrek is the only way to get there, or if you want a specific color the crosstrek is the only way to get there; it's cheaper to buy a crosstrek & drop it than buy an impreza hatch and have it properly repainted.

Remember when people were swapping springs & struts between the fozz and wrx wagon back in the day? some like it low, some like it high, some like it boxy some like it rounded. A 2006-2008MY Fozz with a complete STi swap was the ideal lego-subaru situation for me; if I saw one of those on market for a reasonable price it would be difficult to pass up.

And the Panamera. Especially the plug in versions, would absolutely have one as my DD if I were unlimitedly wealthy. The wagon is totally acceptable looking to me.

So yea, all of these do me absolutely no good.

With European market going down for Subaru ( all prices up 3500 dollar) I think the levorg will arrive in USA. Specially if they put in also the 2.4.

if Europe becomes a no go they have to try the US market. certify it with a manual and use the cvt if you have to.

I guess not. Joking aside, I was only pointing out that the pic that was there was not a 2005. Or an '06. Or an '07. Making it not a U.S. car(unless you had info on that specific car). If there was something else to the original joke that I missed, then dumb on me.

a) it's clearly not an Outback as it doesn't have fender flares and Chano was goof

b) it's my car so I know what it is and why it has the refreshed face

c) we don't get the Levorg, so I bought a used old car that needed work.

d) we won't get this Levorg, so buying an Outback XT and dumping work into it is our only choice.

e) gonna make him rage

f) done raging

Ah ha!

That's cool.

Man, that was a good amount of work to swap all that out. Just wanted it while you worked on it or was there a wreck and that was the needed work? If I was going that far, I'd also have to get the Euro tail lights for that. Ours never looked as good as overseas.

I think you and I share a lot of the same likes and dislikes when it comes to cars.
In general, I'm not comfortable with small sedans, if the vehicle has to be compact, I strongly prefer a 3-door, 5-door, a hatchback or a liftback.
It comes from growing up overseas around legions of compact 3-door, 5-door, liftbacks and wagons.
If the vehicle has to be a sedan then it has to be midsize or fullsize; that's why I instantly liked the BM-sized Legacy.
The BL is a fine automobile but it was barely bigger than the GD; didn't work for me.
Back in 2015, I considered the SS, but as you said, too spendy, considered also the Taurus SHO, very few around, kind of spendy as well because of scarcity, it only left 300 and Charger for large and affordable RWD sedans.
I had no previous experience with FCA or Dodge; basically, didn't know much about Charger/300 until I researched details on the platform.
I didn't find anything scarier on Charger than what we routinely see here about the EJ25 turbo .
That being said, my 06 GG still has impeccable body panel fitment and my Dodge had at least one door that wasn't hanged / lined-up to my liking and the dealer happily addressed it.
It's not a perfect car but it just doesn't look/feel like it's going to fall apart anytime soon (jinx !).
In fact, if I can't get into a wagon, I'm super tempted to trade in my RT (and finally sell my 06 GG) for a Widebody Scat Pack (305 tires all around !).

Part of me is tempted to just buy a new OBXT to drop it at least 2" to 3".
But, I know from experience that fiddling with suspension geometry can be a long process until I settle on something I'm comfortable with.
I wish Subaru or STI would put a kit out there to properly lower Outback; I'd happily pay for that (springs, shocks, anti-roll bars, anything to address steering geometry issues,...).

When I bought it it was in decent shape. But it had fading and bad chips and some dents on the front panels as well as the foggy headlights. It had an accessory hood guard that messed up the paint underneath as well. It was over 10 years old so to be expected. Then I put it into a ditch avoiding a car during a snow storm. It was a slow slide >5 mph that popped the passenger headlight and pushed in the hood and fender on that side so I had to make a choice when fixing it. I opted for the new face because It looks waaaay better IMO. Not a big swap actually, the hoods are the same. Wiring harnesses same. Matching the paint is really the only concern, but I was going to redo the front anyway so.

I threw on the '08 Outback taillights to clean the rear up and match the front too. But the point is all these parts are USDM. I can crunch the front up again and use USDM parts, not have to re source parts from overseas. Guys do this and I'm like no way. The '08 style is so good looking and has clean lines, I'm good.

Misread what you said. Yeah the bumper mess and roof racks are unfortunate.
