Default 2021 Kia Sorento Official Teasers

Quote:
As to be expected, the new 2021 Kia Sorento has been caught with its guard down again, this time, without a shred of camo. Aside from the two white and silver colored examples of the SUVs photographed parked next to each other, Korean forum posters also revealed a digital outline of the Sorento that seems to have been sourced from the infotainment screen. [Updated 1/31/2020]
A prototype of Kiaís upcoming fourth-generation 2021 Sorento has been uncovered in South Korea, with pictures of the mid-size SUV appearing on a number of forums, including on Cien. A host of other interior photos were also posted on the Sorento Club MQ4 in Korea, while The Korean Car Blog reported that the official unveiling will happen in its home market on February 17.

Many new-age Sorento prototypes have been spied testing in recent months and if the vehicle is indeed shown off in Korea in mid-February, thereís a very good chance it will make its European premiere at Marchís Geneva Motor Show with the North American model to follow suit.

Whereas the outgoing third-generation Kia Sorento has a rather bland and uninspiring design, the new model seems far more appealing to the eye. At the front, it adopts a chunkier version of Kiaís Tiger Nose grille as well as a set of LED headlights. Kia has been spotted benchmarking the Sorento against the latest BMW X5, indicating the new vehicle will be more premium than any of its predecessors.

A series of images out of South Korea have revealed some of the carís new interior that sports a digital instrument cluster, a four-spoke steering wheel, and has a large central infotainment screen, giving an overall more premium and upscale feeling over todayís model.

In terms of engines, we expect engines including a 2.4-liter GDI inline-four, 2.0-liter turbocharged four, a 2.2-liter CRDI diesel, and the 2.0-liter four-cylinder hybrid found in the current Hyundai Sonata. Itís possible the range will be topped out by a 3.8-liter GDI V6 thatís good for 291 hp and 262 lb-ft (355 Nm) of torque.

When the new Kia Sorento hits the market, it will compete against the likes of the Ford Explorer, Mazda CX-9, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Skoda Kodiaq, GMC Acadia, Toyota Highlander, Nissan Murano, and Dodge Durango.

Here's the New 2021 Kia Sorento Fully Exposed

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...to-spy-photos/

The mid-size SUV hasn't officially debuted yet, but we now know exactly what it looks like and that it will offer a hybrid.

Images of the new 2021 Kia Sorento first leaked out last week, and now we can see it in all its glory thanks to these spy photos.
Its new styling looks sharp, with interestingly styled headlights and taillights.
The mid-size SUV is expected to debut in Korea this month, and it should arrive in the U.S. by the end of the year.
Kia has yet to officially debut the newest version of its Sorento mid-size SUV, but we're now seeing it in full splendor thanks to these spy photos. Captured during a photo shoot for the new model in California, this blue Sorento looks considerably sharper than the current model, with cool detailing at the front and the rear elevating its look. While this appears to be the Korea-spec Sorento, we don't expect its basic design to change for the U.S. market when it arrives later this year.

While the doors, roofline, and overall greenhouse of the new Sorento don't look too different from the current model, we're digging the front- and rear-end designs. Modern-looking LED headlights flank the nicely detailed front grille, and the rear is distinctive thanks to vertically oriented two-bar taillights on each side that go nicely with somewhat angularly sculpted tailgate.

A hybrid badge on the rear of this Sorento confirms that gas-electric variants will be offered for the first time, as we previously reported. A charging port is not visible on this model, though, so this is the conventional hybrid rather than the plug-in-hybrid. Gasoline four-cylinder and V-6 engine choices will be the standard powertrains in the U.S., and all-wheel drive will be an option even on the hybrid, as evidenced by the "4WD" badge also visible on the rea

Look for more information to come about the new Sorento soon, as it's slated to debut for the Korea market this month. U.S.-specific information should follow by a few months, and we think it will be on sale on our shores by the end of the year as a 2021 model.

Not a fan of that grill, but overall looks VW-ish and good. Reminds me of a Tiguan

That interior looks like a nice place to be, and the radio, while "tacked on", remains level with the dash and not separate level/higher.

Default 2021 Kia Sorento

New Kia Sorento revealed, showing plusher upmarket design

SUV gets bold look, posh interior, raft of new tech and hybrid options

Kia has revealed its new Sorento ahead of the large SUVís debut at the Geneva show next month.

The fourth-generation Skoda Kodiaq rival adopts a design distinctly different to that of its predecessor or any other Kia sold in Europe. This angular styling, which apes the larger Telluride, is likely to be a reflection of its greater sales status in the US than Europe.

The Sorentoís proportions have been altered with the aim of making it look longer, by way of shorter front and rear overhangs and a 35mm-longer wheelbase. All other dimensions are only around 10mm greater, although space inside Ė especially for middle-row passengers Ė is said to be significantly enhanced, thanks to improved packaging. All UK models will be seven-seaters.

The only image of the interior released so far is of a Korean-spec car, but itís unlikely to be changed much for Europe beyond the choice of trim colours.

Highlights include a Mercedes-style panel that links a larger infotainment touchscreen to a new digital instrument display, while a separate climate control panel is flanked by central air vents.

Technical firsts for Kia include improved cruise control that automatically readjusts limits according to corner gradients, a self-parking function accessed via the key fob, automatic braking if the car is about to hit something while parking and a blindspot monitoring system that uses cameras mounted on the door mirrors to project images of whatís alongside the car onto the dashboard.

The Sorento will be launched this autumn with a 199bhp 2.2-litre diesel engine and a 227bhp hybrid powertrain comprising a 1.6-litre petrol engine, a 59bhp electric motor and a 1.5kWh battery. A plug-in hybrid will follow shortly after with 261bhp overall, an 89bhp motor and a 16.6kWh battery.

Buyers will have the choice of front- or four-wheel drive except with the plug-in hybrid, which will exclusively be a 4x4.

Interior looks great. Outside is fine and generic since... Kia.

Exterior can be generic since... mommy-mobile grocery getter/kid hauler. Looks good to me. I wouldnít be embarrassed getting into it.

I'm liking the Tie Fighter vents. Tack on screen still not a fan of. I like the front end.

Um, I’m very intrigued. $20 says a basic 4x4 comes in above $45k though.

The current Sorento AWD starts between $30-35k, depending on engine. Maybe the model shown with fully loaded options is $45k.

The thing is they have the Telluride now that is in the similar price bracket. It tops out at $47k with AWD and packages.

Have to say, itís getting less and less likely Iíll ever buy a new car anytime soon. Harder to afford and the depreciation factor.

To a certain extent, yes. Used cars are still holding up fairly well.

Eh, really depends buddy. You can wait until end of year sales start to role around where prices are being slashed plus you can often find close to 0% APR on new which make it damn competitive on car payment and overall pricing. Used values still have higher rates and are holding up fairly well if they have lower miles.

They seem to be on a roll and killing it on all fronts with their recent designs. This thing should sell really well.

I'm not feeling the exterior design as much as the Telluride and new Seltos but the interior is quite nice. This will probably max out at $43k or $44k otherwise people will just get the better looking Telluride for a few K more.

So I'm confused. With Hyundai attempting to edge into premium territory.. and then also having genesis, which is definitely in premium territory... and now this kia... do they plan on making any econo-cars at all?

Don't get me wrong, if this thing comes in at econo prices and I'm just making incorrect assumptions, they will demolish the market and I'll be ecstatic.

They're still covering the econo end of the market as well, they just have a wide and deep spread over the whole market.

I think it's Hyundai/Kia continuing to shed their cheap quality image from years past. They are nowadays known as high content value vehicles, so maybe part of that moves to design and quality.

Funny how history repeats. In the 80's it was the domestics that left the door open for the Japanese and today it's the Japanese that have left the door open for the Koreans to chip away at their market shares. Their newer interiors in particular look a lot more premium than Japanese offerings. Toyota interiors in particular are terribly cheap feeling for the money.

The Japanese only had to be better than the US makes to gain marketshare. The Koreans have been pushing the envelope to be better (more for your money) than the US & Japanese makes, while also giving the Germans a run for their money.
