Started up the STi today.. let it get to operating temp.. was looking at it and thinking that I can't wait to get all the updates on.. and Enjoy it for a while

Updates/parts waiting to be installed include the following:

-Professionally Rebuilt VF48 with 11 Blade Billet wheel, Flow tested and balanced

-New Larger TMIC * I have 2 now: a 2000 Mile VA I/C.. the one I tried to straighten out is complete junk.. so I found another one. *Also have a Aftermarket larger Bar/plate I/C .. We'll see which one I go with.. Still going to polish them out.. for the aesthetics.

-Grimmspeed Catted LTD Downpipe

-Install new Wide Band

-Grimmspeed 3 port EBCS

-ID 850cc Side Feed Injectors..*went with 850's since I don't plan to go huge turbo/power.. Realistic goal will be 325/350 awhp. 350/375 torque

-Factory 2017 18' STi Enkei wheels with 245/40/18 tires

-Install Boom Boom Pow.. *12 in Self powered Subwoofer

-Install Left front Splash shield

-Finish the rear spats and install

-ProTune with 20-21 PSI

-Refurbish K&N Heatshield.

-Found out the motor was yanked at about 66k to do all the seals and valve cover gaskets and actually had the headgaskets redone at that point as well with all Factory parts by a factory trained technician.... the heads were checked and trued before re-installation..

I think thats going to be it for a bit... after all that it should satisfy my needs and wants.. then just enjoy it for a while. Should follow my philosophy of Updating Factory Parts ..

Future stuff I want to do:

- New Intake manifold or get mine re-powder coated.

- wouldn't mind putting a rear wiper system on the car to enhance the JDM theme. Thats a reach tho.. and not very practical..

Bill

Looks great!! Well done this is an exciting build. One question, where’d you get the stencil? I wish the GR came with the STi painted on the TMIC...

Ok .. need an opinion... I have a pretty much brand new VA STi intercooler off of a 19 STi and the aftermarket one I got... The VA I/C is lighter and I want to say it would be as efficient as the aftermarket one. I think I am going to go with the VA Intercooler to begin with.. for the originality.. They are about the same size width and thickness wise.. What do you guys think???

No opinion. Huh.. ok..

I just got another round of Parts from My dealer...
Intercooler Gaskets
BNIB Factory Blowoff valve.I am sure the original one is getting pretty tired after 132k.
New Turbo Wastegate hose with pill
BNIB right side Factory Painted Rear Arch molding. (Did the Left Side at the end of Fall)
Right side Intercooler bracket for the STi VA intercooler.. Hopefully it will bolt right up. to help with the alignment of the VA intercooler.. if you have a detailed pic of how the right side bracket mounts on your VA STi... I would appreciate you posting it up.. the more detailed the better TIA

I want to get a new intake manifold.. maybe I will get a 07 STi Manifold so I can use TopFeeds..Thats down the road tho. That should do it, pretty much after I get the Intercoolers Polished out. Think I am going to use the Factory 19 OEM STi at first.. Get the VA STi Wheels in shape to mount my tires.. I need to pull the brakes and see what kind of condition the calipers are in.. Want to get them rebuilt and refinished..along with the Factory Goldies... Still working on my Rear Strakes..slowly but surely..
Also Got a Laser Cut outlined GD STi keychain.. I will get a pic of that..its Suuuueeeet

More later..

Bill

What are you going for in this car? I can see keeping the STi IC. IT adds a nice touch of originality and OEM while gaining some performance from the increase in size. Will the aftermarket one throw your scheme off or add to it?

I am trying to keep it as original as possible and updating some OEM items with a later version of OEM.. I have them both.. so I think I am going to go with OEM at first to keep my 'scheme' as you put it . I really don't think there is going to be a huge difference over one or the other with my desired power levels. The Factory OE 19 STi intercooler can support up to 400 hp reliably.. The car has been a Stage 2 before with the larger aftermarket intercooler.. so I know what it 'can do' with it.. I am curious to see what the OE 19 I/C can do..
Previous Stage 2 ..323/376 for reference:
