Is it possible to install it without taking manifold off or you need to lift the manifold to fit it in?
thanks

The whole purpose of this inlet is to allow installation with the manifold in place. The video shows it is fairly simple. I am using one on my Legacy because: Killer B! Enjoy!

I can get some if you want. I just have to pull off my alternator cover for a better angle. It is close but I don't see it touching.

We did an install on a 02 WRX. I believe those are side feeds. Intake manifold stayed on. Same with the VA chassis and stock fuel system.

The 02 is sidefeed? The 2002 stock setup is topfeed

Maybe I'm remembering a GD STi. I know those are side feeds for sure. I'll check our tester list when I'm back in the office tomorrow. Pretty sure there was a GD in the mix.

2004-2006 STi is sidefeed.

All USDM EJ WRXs are topfeed.

We're going to search for a local GD STi. My tech says the side feed fuel lines in the areas around the turbo inlet shouldn't be different enough to matter, but we're going to try and get a car here to confirm. The GDs we have installed test parts on have all been WRXs. If anyone has any visual aids showing the difference in the turbo inlet area, feel free to post or DM them to me.

Finally installed mine, wasn't bad, but I did discover the world of AN fittings, so it took me like 8 hours just to decide what fittings I was going to use. Things to note: 2017 STI with a Blouch 1.5XT-R 10cm, Cobb fuel lines, BPV, Crawford AOS, and OEM/JDM STI TGV housings. Replaced a Perrin inlet.

The Killer B instructions have good information, but one thing that I'd emphasize for easy installation is to consider how the coupler is clocked in relation to where the turbo sits. I clamped the coupler to the pipe, then had some difficulty getting it to seat on the turbo, then took more care in clocking the coupler and was able to easily get the coupler onto the turbo with about as much resistance as you would expect from a tight coupler. Once I had the coupler in a good position, I used a paint pen to mark several areas on the coupler and tube so I could line it up again as needed.

More notes:
- Get the coupler properly clocked toward the turbo to ease installation, otherwise the coupler will bind and fight as you try to push it onto the turbo
- I did have to bend the PCV hard pipe for clearance (per instructions)
- Absolutely consider installing fittings before installation (per instructions), fittings closest to the intake manifold might not screw in with the IM in the way. You can install the inlet with the plug installed into the far hole near the turbo, if you need to put a fitting in there, that'll probably need to be done after installation.
- Removal of the alternator and setting aside the PS pump is a must (per instructions)
- I trimmed 1/2" from the Killer B inlet side of the coupler
- I trimmed 1/4" from the turbo side of the coupler and then some for minor adjustments
- I should have trimmed the ~3/4" from the BPV return hose because the area is cramped due to Cobb fuel lines and the BPV hose can become kinked

Finished product (the white on the coolant hoses is from Subaru coolant conditioner, think I'll pass on that next time):

PS pump clearance, etc., doesn't even touch:

My first coupler trim on the turbo side was straight, I clamped the coupler to a 2" pipe and used the clamp as a guide for a clean cut with a blade, but something prevents that straight cut from allowing the coupler to sit straight on the turbo (intake manifold bulge + turbo position?), so I then had to trim at an angle. Had this same problem when trimming the Cobb inlet, my Perrin inlet fit perfectly on its own. My cuts came out OK and with enough to clamp the coupler. The coupler is tight enough that it's not going anywhere, but I'm going to keep an eye on it. I should've installed the pipe without the coupler to see where it sits in relation to the turbo like killfire's picture.

BPV hose is awkward because of the Cobb fuel lines consuming space under the throttle body that the BPV hose would typically occupy and was an issue with my past Cobb and Perrin inlets; the width of the aftermarket inlets may also contribute, so next time I have the TMIC off, I'm going to consider trimming at least 3/4" off of that BPV hose @ inlet. Fortunately the hose isn't crushed. When the BPV hose is crushed, you hear a ~250Hz descending "BOOooo" sound when the BPV opens, kinda like how turbo cars sounded in some older racing games.

The inlet feels sturdy installed and consumes less space than a silicone inlet. I can't yet objectively say anything about performance because I had disconnected the battery for a couple days so the car is now relearning. I do believe I feel an improvement all around, but I think that's either the ECU relearning or ~10F cooler weather. I'll have to see how it feels in the long term.

/// 2021-10-10 - I cut just under 3/4" from the BPV return hose where it mates to the inlet. This allows the hose to sit more naturally and it's no longer squished against the throttle body.

Anyone have a pic of this inlet with the 84mm coupler installed on an FP turbo?

Switched to an IAG AOS, decided to arrange the inlet connections back to a stock configuration.

To use the inlet's PCV port closest to the turbo, I used B07CPH3L85 from Amazon (EDGE INDUSTRIAL 1/2" Hose ID to 1/4" Male NPT). I trimmed the barb enough to get it to clear the intake manifold. I would have trimmed half of the threaded section if I thought I could have done without mangling the threads, but I was working with a Dremel. I got enough clearance to get the fitting into place and clamp on a 1/2" hose without much interference.

Has anybody confirmed if this fits with the wrx plastic manifold or not?

There are a couple of shops who have done it. One is Brown's Performance (I think they are FL). If I recall, the EBCS mounting bracket needs to be modified or relocated to make it work.

Going back through our files I came across some pics that Brown's Performance sent us. Please note, this unit was a prototype 3D printed plastic version, not the cast aluminum units we are currently producing. Design wise, they are exactly the same.

Tough to see, but the EBCS bracket is trimmed.

I emailed them about this when it was first released. Had a hilarious nonsensical circular conversation where they simultaneously said they don't make one for 08-14 WRX but that it also fits those cars lmao.

I wouldn't bother unless you like DIYing. I'd go with the HKS one.

It fits, but requires modification of the EBCS backet and solenoid relocation. Here's a prototype with the plastic manifold...
