That sounds better than a stock 10th Gen CTR. I hope they improved the stock exhaust sound.

CTR looking good, nice hood vent, nice wheels, nice interior, seats that Subaru wouldn't ever bring to the USD market. Still don't like the C pillar back but it looks better with the big fenders and bigger quarter panels. Honda needs to offer a 10th Gen Si type spoiler as a no cost option on this thing.

I do wish they put some more meat on those tires. The factory size is 265/30/19 which is odd to me. 265/35 would look and probably drive way better, not to mention it's a much more common size and easier to find tires for.

265/30/19 is a ton of tire for a 3100 lb car.

It's going to be so painful trying to get one of these.

I'd pack some 295/35/18 A052 in there first thing. Stupid, I agree. But it must be done.

Wing just doesnít look right, since the styling is now subdued, having the fast and furious wing looks out of place.

Also I hope the alcantara steering wheel doesnít make it, thatís stupid on a car you drive to the gym or soccer games. The one in my 330 ZHP got nasty in just a year.

Agreed on both points. I know some people aren't fans of the current CTR, but it at least looked interesting to me. Especially with the wing, the car was so extreme in styling that the wing went with it. These spy shots, however, show a much more subdued design and the wing really sticks out (and literally ).

I've never been a fan of Alcantara. Never really understood the fascination. Having it on a steering wheel seems counterintuitive and gross.

Agreed. Why would I want something in my car that needs to be obsessively brushed and cleaned so it doesn't end up looking like a dirty dog's butt?

I think all of the same Type R styling cues are there. So long as the front and back grills are reduced in square footage, I definitely prefer this car. I like the wing.

Watch Biden ban it also for being a Covid magnet.

Yeah, it's meant for drivers wearing gloves.

LOL at "square footage", yeah they definitely went overboard on the 10 with that stuff. I know it's mostly camo, but that front end is very mid-late 90's Nissan, which honestly looks great.

I really like this new style, and yeah, this CTR and the GC in the background would make great stable mates. Put an old 4x4 4-Runner next to them and a light RWD of some sort and my garage is set. Oh and a dual-sport too.

Ha, I actually just passed on a silver '99 2.5RS, had aspirations for it to become my winter beater to this CTR. Good luck getting $10k for that GC with the floor rotted out, buddy.

That upper grill is going to continue under the headlights. Going to assume the large flat pieces on either side of the lower grill (and above-aside the triangular vents) are going to be large faux vents.

Looks epic. Fenders are bulging and massive like an m3. And no plastic cladding in sight.

Not sure why people think this is toned down. It's got all the aggression but the Fenders are nicely integrated this time rather than looking tacked on. And no fake vents by the looks of it.

Subaru forum so plenty of wrong wheel drive comments is expected. Awd might be good for traction but pretty sure the last gen CTR was easily the better DD and performance car than the STI was. I don't live where there's snow though so I can choose between this and next STI and pick the best one without having to base the choice solely on driven wheels alone.

Whether you like it or not Honda put some effort in the last been CTR whereas Subaru didn't with the STI. Interested to see what Subaru do this time.....

This car looks a lot better than the current one. They really ought to offer a gentlemen's edition with spoiler delete and black seats. Some red stitching is fine. If that were available and I could actually test drive one I would probably buy one. I'll keep the wrx for winter. It's either this or a brz.

Word. But by "better," do you mean make any noise, period? Even if it was whisper quiet, I'd have a condition of sale for the dealership to disable the sound generator. Never, will I ever use one of those, even if the car sounds like a stock Civic. Sucks for me, since I doubt they would make an aftermarket exhaust quiet enough for me.

Like others have said, I hope they have some kind of alternative wing setup. I know they offered this overseas in the last generation.

It's easy to disable the sound generator, it's behind the glove box.

The resonator in the center is now bigger rather than smaller, maybe that was to make it sound better?

I think I might buy one of these just to own the last ICE Type R. Even if I get to the point where I can't handle FWD I know I will be able to sell it and not lose any money.

Are we expecting EVs to go from 2% to 100% of vehicles in 6 years?

Some people are thinking it's highly likely that performance cars will have some sort of hybrid assist. I still haven't seen anything like that in something that isn't a supercar or hypercar. Everything seems to be ICE, EV, PHEV, aka "affordable".

For people who want to own a fully ICE performance car, yes, I think days are numbered. Especially for a hot hatch.
