This is all obviously pure speculation on my end.
They couldn't even produce SPT cars for the reviewers. They are clearly having supply chain or other issues. They won't complicate their line by adding another transmission to the GT for MY22. Maybe MY23 they will offer a WRX MT Performance package with the Recaro seats and dampers.

But if they aren't able to produce SPT (CVT) Transmissions couldn't that leave a possibility for them to sell the GT as a manual. (Again this is all wishful thinking and at this point i'm saying this simply for the discussion)

Well, it depends on what the actual problem is.

If it is related to the CVT, then I guess I see your point, but again, I don't think they could on the fly change transmissions.

The issue could be the dampers. For example, Jeep offers an active suspension and they have been shipping cars without it due to shortages.

Are you Tom Doll? Sounds like something he would opine about. Performance in this segmentis defined as ugly arse golf ball, plastic fender cladding, not clean body (fender) lines....

Justy maybe you know. When was the last shipment of current gen WRXs? I see them still trickling into dealer inventories.

Another example is that Toyota isn't building/shipping Highlander models in Limited trim because the specific audio package that comes with it is affected by the chip shortage.

We wanted the Limited trim for the memory seats as the height disparity between my wife and I means I can't physically get in a vehicle she has driven without first sliding the seat waaaay back; no memory seats means no purchase for us; not to mention we'd have to order anything we buy, which means 1-2 months of waiting for it.

This thread has been a s-show for awhile now. So sad. This is the first time I haven't liked the "new model." I owned a 2008 for God's sake.

My wife and I have the same issue if she drives my Crosstrek. The Tesla has "easy entry" so it slides the seat and steering wheel back when she parks, and it also recognizes my key so it changes the profile to me.

I wanna say it was a couple months ago. There can be a number of reasons they may still be trickling in. We had a Forester sit at the rail yard once for soo long(I wanna say it was a month) that when it was finally put on a truck, it was on the same truck as the next model year cars. We never found out why on that particular one; but, I have heard that a car could have damage and is repaired at the port, which could delay it. Or, again, was told a number of factors. Our last one was beginning of December.

I mean, the car is left field polarizing as far as a WRX goes. Not everyone is on board with taking their brand new WRX up to the mountains to bounce off of snags and forging creeks. That might be what the new gen of WRX buyer will want, but current gen and before owners who frequent this dinosaur forum?...

Change takes time? Forums facilitate change? I dunno. Doesn't matter anyway. I don't own nor will ever own a Crosstrek or an Outback, so I'm not Ambassador level accepting. I'm myopic!

I may be getting carried away now but based on images available and the grey image for the Tokyo auto salon I did a little photoshop of what the "STI Performance" Variant announced tomorrow will look like. I also used the Levorg fenders to render what could have been if the cladding was omitted, as a bonus.

Hahah, agreed, I am not taking a WRX off-road, or near a trail. I've had 2 Crosstreks and they are good for what they do. My father had a '05 Outback XT 5MT, but that's nothing like the 2010+ Outbacks. I am an Ambassador, and I find this new WRX to be off-putting. I will get another STI 6MT before they are extinct.

For a time I rationalized that all the cladding and unpainted plastic was a design choice made to mitigate the ever-slabbier slabness of the car. From sides and rear especially. It was becoming a towering wall of featureless sheetmetal, and this was a Subaru-ey way of addressing it.

But I've seen a lot of pics with the cladding edited out (not to mention actual Levorg pics) that totally invalidate that idea. And not even the pics with like massive aftermarket wheels slammed into the wheel wells. So I just don't know why they did it besides their 100% track record of [car without cladding] + [cladding] = smashing success.

Gah. I'm done with sticks. IF there is an option for an auto, unless it's like the original STI auto dropping loads of power(which they'll just not offer one at this point), I'm all over it. If not, and I AM impressed, I'll get the MT. I have owned a MT continuously since I started driving. My DD is a stick. I'm just done. I enjoy driving. I just don't care THAT much about "driving". Shifting is not my enjoyment of the drive. That's why the shift to EV won't bug me. Sure, I enjoy the sound of a good engine; but, meh. My only negative towards EV is range and/or charging times. My mother lives 12 hours away.

If the STI doesn't impress, auto or not, GT will be ordered.

Since this horse apparently isn't dead...

If they paint that middle strip the yellow arrows are pointing at that forms the sill under the trunk lid, along with the painted arches, I think it could look a lot better. The design of the rear bumper cover is strange. Integrating the top of the diffuser area to create a load lip doesn't visually work. The Levorg doesn't have this issue. It looks good.
