I only want the circuit edition. Time to start putting my STI back to stock now.

I want the circuit edition, too, but I’m not sure I’m willing to wait another 10 months. I’ve been waiting a long time already. I’d at least get the Core model with the performance and winter package.

I'm sure if Subaru launched a WRX with tacked on fender flares people here would be losing their mind

I hope it drives as good as the Yaris, but I can't help thinking it has a 3 cylinder engine with bolto on fender flares.

People are losing their minds, just not in a positive way.

In May of 2012 I preordered my 2013 BRZ Limited, thinking I'd give a RWD sports car a chance, and then jump back into an AWD sports car whenever I was ready. Never did I think that Subaru wouldn't be the company that provides what I've basically been expecting to have as an option for 10 years. So in my mind, waiting at least 10 months for the 2023 GR Corolla Circuit Edition is completely fine.

My Impreza has been paid off for a good while now and I've basically just been spending my money setting up my bachelor pad. Now that that's almost caught up (just looking at a coffee table, and frame and wall mount for my Samsung Frame TV). I'm done with cross-country road trips for a bit, and I don't think worldwide travel will be completely clear for a while. So I'm gonna work a bit of overtime at work since I've always had the option to do so and just haven't exercised it, and save money for the next 10 months or so. PPF and ceramic coating the entire car. Getting a set of winter wheels. And gonna fight tooth and nail to get the exact car I want. Money talks, and I'll have mine ready to go.

I waited 6 months for my Giulia, so 10 months for this being all-new isn***8217;t bad.

I like this car, 10 month wait for me is the sweet spot. I should be in a perfect situation to trade for one of these. I like the look of this car better than the new WRX. I purchase my car a year ago with an eye toward it being a car that would hold value and I could enjoy for a while to see if I wanted the new WRX when it came out. I have not succeeded in making myself want the new WRX, mainly due to the looks and the black plastic. I might be able to get a GR 86 or BRZ but that is a little more dicey for me as a two door. A 4 door sedan or hatchback is kind of my automotive sweet spot. I want to see what the money side is going to look like though first.

Yeah shame on Toyota for color match painting their fender flares instead of using that textured plastic that everyone loves so much.

What pisses me off the most is that Subaru had the all the ingredients to make the new WRX even than this Corolla.
Use the Impreza/Crosstrek 5 door body shell, STI transmission since it seems like the 6 WRX trans can't hold more than 258 ft-lbs, and the 2.4 at 300 hp.
Or to make it even easier, just bring over the new Levorg.

The door cup holders should be the same as in the regular Corolla hatch, however the center console ones might be different due to the GR having a hand brake handle in that area and the regular one just having a button.

Center console cupholders will be set back and to the right, similar to the setup in the GR-Yaris & IS sedan.

Rear cupholders will be in the center seat drop-down as well as one in each door (same as the existing corolla).

I know it was a joke, but there are eight cupholders (four of which are really bottle holders, 2 for front & 2 for rear occupants), so you know, stay hydrated, I guess.

I am really interested in one of these(circuit/cold weather package), probably more so than the Integra Type S. What would really sell me would be if I could get one in the Electric Lime Metallic from the current TRD Pro Tacoma.

as much as I would probably enjoy driving this, and maybe taking it to a track day or two, the primary purpose of it would be daily life, which means picking up the kid from daycare, and driving around with the family. basically, happy wife = daily life.

after seeing the WRX, I know I would have had no problem doing that with a STI, but that's where it is now.

so for what I want out of life, 4 doors, manual, fun, RWD/AWD, priced ~$40,000 or lower, I'm really stuck on options.

luckily the wife is going to let me enjoy the BRZ for at least another year before she puts her foot down. and who knows, by that point, maybe I can afford the CT4 blackwing.

This would be my wife's car. But she's not sold on the looks. Not only in a general sort of way as she's not a fan of the Corolla hatchback. Particularly the rear. But with this she doesn't like how the rear quarter flares look tacked on and sit way too low. The rendering made them look less pronounced, more integrated. But I was right, they are bigger. And in a bad way. The Sienna and Highlander pulls off the Supra look better.

Also: White black and red...really? In a $40k Corolla? The base Corolla has like 13 colorways. That part seems like a huge miss. It should come in every color the Corolla has at the very least. But I would have expected more special colorways as being options, like with the TRD models. Sure, pull the trigger on white and be done. But there are so many better colors at their disposal to choose from.

Small gripes, but excited about this option. Probably won't ever be able to find one, and the price will be far more than it's worth. At least the Golf R will have fewer car vultures and speculators circling it.

My wife and I watched the reveal last night and came away pretty impressed. This seems like it's pretty much a direct replacement for the STI, yeah? You get the mechanical diffs and adjustable torque split in the GR Corolla that you'd get with an STI. But you also get a hatchback and I'd trust the reliability more from Toyota than Subaru, although my Subies have been pretty reliable over the years. The Circuit Edition is definitely the more appealing version, I think the base is a bit boring of a design but if I had to go that route I'm sure the aftermarket will have plenty of options to liven it up.

Whether or not we get one will probably depend on pricing. We went back and forth a little bit and if it's around 40k then I think we'll probably bite. If the ADM nonsense continues and these are 45 or 50k I will probably look into doing an STI swap for my 21 WRX instead.

Yeah the limited color options, especially for the base model, is a bit of a turn-off.

The GRC is certainly a great alternative and possibly more capable than the Golf R. The ability of the GRC to go 30/70 is awesome. And of course 50/50 for WRX like traction.


For me, the STI will always be on another level.

Yes, you need to get the Performance Package to get LSDs.
