![]() So, currently I have a shifter that has a lot of play when in gears and as I was doing some research into learning how to fix the issue. I noticed that there is a linkage that can be replaced on 5MTs. I tried to see if I could buy a new linkage for a 6MT since thats what my sti has and I think I found out that apparently the 6 speed linkage cannot be serviced. I wanted someone to help confirm that it cant be serviced and possibly guide me to other solutions that I can do to reduce the play.
For the 04 sti's do they require the whole assembly to be bought just to reduce the play? I plan on buying the Kart boy bushings that I have listed below but, I am not sure how much the play will reduce with just that. Lookin for some crisp gear changes https://www.kartboy.com/collections/...6spd-bushcombo Thanks! ![]()

![]() Unless your shifter linkage is rusted out or damaged, you shouldn't need to replace it. You can replace the bushings in the kit you posted. That is a common starting point.
If your u-joint bushings are bad, you can replace those with these. https://www.iagperformance.com/tic-s...05-subaru-sti/ The shifter itself has pivot bushings that may be worn out too. https://www.iagperformance.com/tic-6...ivot-bushings/ And here is the shifter linkage if you need it. https://parts.subaru.com/p/Subaru_20...5041FE070.html |

![]() Okay so update,
I bought the KB Bushings for front and rear shifter but I still have play (as I suspected) but the play in my shifter decreased a little. Still when I am in gear my shifter moves around as if it were in neutral. I took a video after I installed the bushings to see what may have been causing the play to still occur and it looks like its the linkage I was refering to before. It attaches to the fork within the transmission I believe. https://photos.app.goo.gl/swscxFkPBQyepdoX9 Does anyone know where I can buy this bushing at (Not sure if its one of the links already posted)? |
