Default DIN Pocket

Can someone post a link to a site where I can order a DIN sized pocket that will mount in the OEM cage on a 2002 WRX? I just replaced the stock radio with a Pioneer Premier 740MP and now I have a big gap in my dash! Thanks in advance!

Pick one up at your local Best Buy, Circuit City, or stereo shop. Cost me about $14.

I was looking at buying one for my car as well. I looked at Circuit City and Tweeter and they both showed me a cubby that would have to be modified a little to fit properly.

The best solution is to pick one up at your Subaru dealer that is made to fit the 2.5RS with a single din radio.

Hey...The universal DIN size pocket is made by Metra (Model No. 88009000) for $15, or you can go to your local subie dealer and pick up a pocket from a Legacy which has a little cover you can open and close...

Hey speaking of the legacy pocket.. how does that thing work anyway? Does the cover just hold itself open? Or do you have to manually hold it? Does it slide in? Pop off?

Thinking of hacking one and sticking my AVC-R in there.. if it'll fit my needs.

I stopped in a Best Buy, Circuit City, and a local stereo shop today. None of them had a pocket that would fit a 2002 Impreza. Does anyone know a website where they sell these?

I found a site ( http://shop.store.yahoo.com/audiosto...ersalkits.html ) that sells the Metra pocket for $19. Will this fit my 2002 WRX without any modifications? Thanks.

check out summit racing's website. They have a universal SIN pocket made by blitz that will fit a gauge and has 2 slots for turbo timers and boost gauges or whatever. Check it out, I'm interested in it too. I forget the part number though.

I talked to my salesman and he gave me a pocket for free. I told him I had heard that they might have some laying around. He checked with the parts dept. and gave it to me

The pocket for the legacy, imprezza and forrester are all the same fit. go to a junkyard or a subaru dealer and you can get one easy without having to modify it. The 6 cylinder legacy that has the traction control has a pocket with a button built into it and there is a pocket with a door in some cars but I don't know which models...

Go to a junkyard and get one for $5 - $10. And recent subaru model...

Default DIN Pocket with Door

I just got the Legacy DIN pocket from Subaru. It is supposed to fit without modification into the WRX opening. It appears to be constructed pretty good and the door has a quality feel to it.

The subaru part number is 66120AE050 and it was $18.87 from subaruparts.com. I know that is a little more expensive than some of the generic ones out there, but I did not want to mess with modifying it, and I wanted the clean looks of a cover.

I have taken a picture of it, but I have never posted anything with a photo. I will try to figure it out and post it here.

How good a match is that cover to the rest of the WRX dash color? Looks pretty good; post some pics when you get it in.

So Paul... can you tackle this question for me? Is the door easily popped off?

lenyx - why not just get the doorless version in the first place
#66128AE000
It's definitely a ripoff at $20 but it fits the stock bracket alright.

I considered somehow mounting the AVC-R with it, but no dice - pocket's too small. Without the pocket the AVC-R actually just squeezes into the space above (or below) a single DIN. I ended up not doing that and just leaving the AVC-R sitting in that tray area by the shifter.

Well I was planning on hacking the pocket a bit to make the avc-r fit and I kinda liked the idea of having the door to hide it while parked. I guess I could probably just make something as I'm gonna have to build a plate for it anyway.

The door on the bracket is spring loaded, with a small button by the pull. When you push in the button, the door flips up from the springs. You can pull the tabs outward on the door and it would probably come off, but I don't think that would happen in day to day use.

Why the question on whether the door comes off? I looks pretty durable. If you don't want the door, you can get the one from the Impreza RS that is just a pocket, which is cheaper.

I figured if the door swung up I'd probably want to be able to quickly remove/attach it to cover up my avc-r... because even if the door held itself open it'd probably block visibility.

Looks like I'm just gonna build myself something.. thanks anyway.

Just to update anyone that cares, I got my hands on a Metra universal pocket (Model No. 88009000). It installed easily with no modifications and it looks great!

This place has them for $13.50 http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...=6604&CATID=35 . It doesn't mention being compatible with Subarus, but trust me it is.

Yep, I got one for free from my dealer like Orbiter did. Plenty of these out there, no need to buy one.

Check the members forum for a pic in my dash.

I just got one of those Din pockets with the door and for some reason, the Trim ring won't snap into place with the pocket installed! Btw, I have the pocket installed in the upper portion of the double din. It seems that I need to trim the sides fo the pocket for the trim ring to fit, or am I simply doing something wrong?
