i called the museum & its $10 to get in for regular ppl.... so if anyone we bring goes... they can at least see the regular museum if they cant get into the STi preview, but i think that they should allow one person to tag along..... but who knows

woohoo! I usually post at imprezawrxsti.com but I wanted to see some pics of that flashlight since I didn't get one...see, I happened to be lucky enough that there was a guy on that forum that couldn't go so I was the first person to tell him I wanted it and I got the pass...but he kept the light. But hey, I'll see you guys there! Look for a short Chinese guy wearing a blue shirt and blue rally cap...

I wonder if they'll have more of those LED flashlights at that event...I'll even buy one if they're not giving them away!

The STi is only being shown at a handful of autoshows (Detroit, Salt Lake City, Portland, and a couple other out of region)...the Petersen show is a special event set up just for LA. SOA Western Region planned this event due to the fact that the promoters of the LA Auto Show would not allow us to move the STi in after the show started. Recognizing the importance of the LA market, we wanted to be sure that people down there could get a chance to see the car. But because the logistics of holding the showing at the Petersen would not allow for an autoshow-sized crowd, we had to limit the number of invitations out. We sent out 200 invitations to this event. This included the pass, keychain, neck lanyard, and one admission ticket to the Petersen. We've also planned the catering for just 200 people total. If a couple was to attend, the dealership was to put both names on their list for a total of two invitations.

The Petersen will not be shut down for this event; it will be open for normal business. Any significant others without an invitation will have to pay standard admission. Those without an invitation will be able to see the car, just not up close right away. At the event, priority for viewing the car up close (i.e behind the ropes, getting in the car, etc.) will fall to those with the STi pass/invitation. That being said, we anticipated that a large number of extra people would show up to see the STi. So, if there is time later in the event (remember, it is 3 hours long), people without invitations will be allowed to view the car up close. I anticipate that there will be some time towards the end of the event for extra people to check the car out. We felt that this was the best compromise, balancing creating a great experience for those whose dealers got them an invite and allowing extra Subaru fans to check the STi out as well. I hope that everyone can understand the reasons behind this policy.

Remember, Prodrive & Easy Street Motorsports will also be set up as well, so be sure to check them out too.

Also, a heads-up on some future plans. Myself, Brent Gunderson, and Phil Pausmer are going to look into getting an STi to put on display at this year's Rim of the World rally. We'll definitely keep you updated on this as well.

Thank you for your support and understanding. I hope you are all as excited about the STi as we are (and judging by the boards you are!), and I hope you all have a great time at the Petersen.

Sincerely,

Bo Rumbley

Thanks for the welcome, Rich! Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to attend the event; I have some stuff crop up at work that'll need my attention over the weekend. It's a shame, 'cuz I was really looking forward to meeting everyone and introducing the STi to you. I'm sure there will be other events that will take me down to SoCal though!

Our district reps will be there, so you'll be in very good hands!

I may stop by later now that I know it's OK. I don't mind waiting on the outskirts with the other riff-raff, it's better than waiting until the summer or whenever its finally released.

What time does the event start? I'd like to show up at the beginning of the third hour like you suggested.

thanks!

Default Trunk Pass Through

Where's the trunk pass through? Will it be a no-cost option for the STi?

the STi never had a pass through. and that's the way we like it (saves weight).

rumor: when the STi wagon comes in 2005, it will have DCCB (driver controlled cross bars) instead of DCCD. wow.
