Nick,

thanks for the links but you might want to remove the Top Gear link as it is a euro spec cars that has nothing to do with the USDM STI or EVO for that matter.

The Globe and Mail (Canada)

interesting quote: "The turbo's love of cold air also means that with sub-zero winter temperatures and plenty of air density, company officials insist the STi's engine will make more than the advertised 300 hp over the chilly winter months."

Hi Guys:

Here's a link to the Saturday May 03 Wheels section. The writer (Jim Kenzie) is a knowledgeable car lover. He said to me a couple of weeks ago just before test driving the STi "Why would anybody drive a beige Buick? What does that say about the buyer's personality?! Enjoy!

Some R&T numbers...
STi / EVO
0-60 4.9 / 4.8
0-100 12.6 / 12.7
1/4 mile 13.3 @ 103.0 / 13.4 @ 103.0
skidpad 0.89g / 0.89g

The EVO won the comparison by 0.3 % margin over the STi. The EVO beat the STi in performance test (except the slalom speed (tie), and the 1/4 mile), and price factor. However the STi won the subjective rating.

Editors concluded that you can't go wrong with either of these two cars. The STi is a car for you if you use it as a daily driver, and off roader . The EVO is a car for you if you drive around the twisties, and road courses.

Nice quotes:
Quote:
The car is extremely sensitive to throttle control in a corner. Lift off, even at very mild lateral g and you'll discern the nose tucking in. Just the way a performance-oriented driver would want, although newbies might find it a bit twitchy.
Quote:
For my tastes, and for track use, I could have used even more lateral support in the seats. At least Canada gets sport seats; the Americans get a much less restrictive design, presumably to accommodate their lard-assed customer base.

I'm also wondering if Canadian STis get smaller seats? I might consider trading my large USDM seats for those tighter ones.

wow, a lot of people seem to like the STi better... that is kinda surprising. I think both cars kick ass, but I am not concerned in the least as to what the mags say... honestly, who is gonna leave their EVO or STI stock? not many people. Escpescially the people that actually competatively race these cars.

If I could afford either car I'd go with the STi just because I like Subaru as a company. THe dealership I go to rocks, and service at others has never been a hassle. THe EVO is still a bad ass car though.
