Cool Trunkmonkey.com Graphics/Mascot

Here is the trunkmonkey.com monkey sketch...this will be the basis for my Trunkmonkey cartoons. It's a really rough sketch, but it gives an idea... Oh, and remember to go to trunkmonkey.com to check out the FAQ.

Now, here is the silhouette I'll be using based on the above cartoon face. This will be the silhouette for the vinyl stickers. Vinyl = no details, so I had to come up with something with contrast.

Now, for the actual banner for the 42.5" windshield banner. The above silhouette will be on the left with this on the right, going across the windshield:

Thoughts? Comments? If anyone has any other ideas, please post! These aren't the pics for the official Trunkmonkey mascot, but it's what I came up with for the silhouette banner for the stickers. I have access to a really cool vinyl shop, so I can modify the banner and make custom banners for anyone who wants different fonts/graphics!

The font is BDfrazer. I found it while doing a Web search on alltheweb.com for "Free Mac Fonts." I forget the site I got it from, though.

dude, for that smooth trunk monkey banner, make a little one like six inches long for the quarter windows...please...I don't want my whole windshield just two on the quarters. It looks excellant by the way, you should make it available in White, Black, and STi pink.

The small diameter stickers will be 3" in diameter. Perfect size for the side window or under the corner marker light.

OK, can someone measure the back window of their sedan/coupe? I measured 35.5" for the rear window of the Impreza Wagon. So, I'll print up some 42.5" for the front, 35.5" for the back and I'll see if 6" and 12" versions will print accurately for the banner.

If vinyl doesn't cut accurately, I'll look into actual printed stickers on a clear backing or printed stickers on white vinyl.

Also, I'll cut a few banners in white, but will cut other colors as they're ordered. I can't afford to front cash to cut banners no one will buy.

Thanks for the interest everyone! Seems that everyone likes the design, so I'll finalize them with the new colors and start cutting next week!

I definitely dig it. But I agree w/ Vinnie. . .I'd like a small one. I don't broadcast to everyone that I have a trunkmonkey. He might get abducted.

Sean, I want to run an idea by you...

This is for the purposes of the rear side windows on coupes.

You can make two graphics by combining the monkey and text together, one with the monkey on the left, one with it on the right. Then you'd have opposing graphics and it'd look right in the windows. From the looks of it, I think the monkey should be about 1-1/2 to 2 times the height of the text.

Point being is that you'd have both the monkey and explanation on the same window. Personally that alone would keep my from putting TrunkMonkey across my windshield.

It's about 38 inches across the rear window on a MY00 coupe give or take half an inch.

I still vote for a plate frame. One that combines the STMi label with the i-Club logo. Something like this:

8Complex - Whirred...already thought of the opposing sides thing. And I'll have to make the monkey larger than the text because anything smaller and the vinyl machine can't cut it that small. Thanks!

Fitz - Rock on...I'll stick with the 35.5" then so it'll fit the Wagon as well.

Red-Impreza - That's basically what I was looking for, except I don't have the facilities to custom mold a plate frame. All I have is a big space on the bottom of the frame and a narrow space on the top. I can do custom graphics, however, and put a small iClub swish on the frame. Probably Trunkmonkey across the top (narrow) and the iClub swish and URL on the bottom (big).

Oh, and here's the stuffed monkey we'll be using, except with a tshirt instead of the bowtie. 9" tall:

We're still looking for better monkeys...that's the best one we've found for under $10.

I had to equip my monkey with a helmet. The damn tech inspection people wouldn't let him run auto-x with me otherwise.

I like the banner also. I just want it for the quarter window and not the front window.
Also can you get them for me in Rally Blue?

The deal is I have 24" x 44" to work with on a single color. The first run will be white because that's a neutral color that most everyone can use. So, I'll do a full sheet with, like, 4 windshield banners, 1 rear window banner and a bunch of 12", 6" and 3" diameter banners/logos in white.

If somone orders another color, I'll do a full sheet of that color. Once trunkmonkey.com is finished and the products are up, I'll have a color list. I can't match colors exactly, but I'll find the closest match to Rally Blue, Sedona Red, etc. I can.

Dude, Sean, you are a pimp, good job getting all this stuff done. My dad's a lawyer, and he says we should copyright this to the
I-club soon. I can get all the specifics from him if need be.

P.S. I'll take two 6" opposing banners for my quarter windows in white please.

Vinnie - Copyright is free.ong as I have the little © copyright symbol, it's copyrighted. Trademark ™ and registered ® is what we need. It's $350 per mark to register/trademark a symbol for each use. For example, stickers + tshirt = $350 + $350 = $700. If your Dad can get me info on how to register/trademark it cheaper, I'm all ears!

You won't be able to trademark "Subaru Trunk Monkey Inerta technology" anyway. Not unless you license the Subaru name. In fact, Subaru could get an injunction to stop you from selling them and sue for damages.

However, I'd be willing to make a small donation (say $20) toward the effort to trademark "Trunk Monkey Inertia technology" for the i-Club. Probably should tradmark the i-Club swish and name as well.

Anybody else?

-Red

PS: Does anybody know of any companies that make novelty plate frames (in metal or plastic) that can do the plate?

Edit, PPS: Sean, the plate you're describing sounds cool too. Post a pic when you get one.

Well, if it were trademarked/registered to the iClub, I wouldn't be able to create/sell the gear without licensing from iClub. So, if I trademarked/registered them, it would be to me. When I start the racing season next year, I'll be racing as Trunkmonkey Racing with my Subaru and one of my compatriots will be racing his Golf. More or less a joke, but a cute name nontheless.

For what I'd trademark/register, it would simply be "Trunkmonkey Racing." The STmi thing is a joke, and I fully expect Subaru to issue a cease and desist eventually. I am, however, covered under fair use parody laws and I'm not using their exact logo anywhere. The whole premise of Trunkmonkey is obviously a joke. I'm no lawyer, but I've dealth with fair use laws in the past. And I've won.

Eventually, I'll be selling actual vehicle components under the Trunkmonkey name. And if Adam Dada brings his Trunkmonkey CPU car PC project to life, that may use the Trunkmonkey name as well.

I'm not familiar with the fair use laws, but it sounds like you've got a handle on it.

I like the Trunk Monkey Racing label, but I don't think it's reasonable to donate to a private interest. I guess you'll have to get my money the old fashioned way (in the margin).

Good luck,
