How are you guys keeping the di-noc stuck to your parts. I have a few spots where it was lifting after it sat in the heat all day. All the flat areas are fine but the tight curves would lift off. I used the 3m primer "pen" should I buy the can and be more liberal with it?
Is the 1080 better for this? Shaun h

does it really make that much of a difference. i used the primer pen but it felt like very little was coming out plus it dries up really fast (the pen itself).

You don't need the primer with the 1080.

so this stiff works that much better than the di-noc huh?. the di-noc sticks like a mother on flat surfaces...
i had some cheaper vinyl, oracal, and it didnt seem to shrink up so much after it cooled down like the di-noc does. i just pulled off my di-noc because of it lifting. i guess i will be ordering some 1080, i was hoping i could find it local but i dont think thats gonna happen |

Thanks for the reply.
I ordered some 3m 1080 the other day because what a few have said on here and I talked to 3m and they told me not to use di-noc on interior plastics with compound curves also, they didn't recommend using it on the exterior too |

Plastic piece by side mirror wrapped in 3M 1080. I had to apply some 3M adhesive spray in order for film to stick to curvy area.
1080 was easier to work on compared to Di-Noc since it stretches easily, but it was also easier to tear when pulling it. 3M di-noc (later removed and replaced w/ 1080 since it matches better with OEM stock carbon fiber interior pieces) |

3m 1080, I covered all the silver on the dash, around the door pulls, and down the length of the console. I then added a red pinstripe following the dash line.

I have a 6'x2' sheet of Di Noc, if anyone is interested they can PM me.
I was planning on using it, but it sounds like the 1080 is better for what I am looking to do. |

a little trick I figured out is on curves wrap it over the edge and continue molding it to the back side of the piece (anchoring it in sorts) I haven't had any issues doing this (see my work one or two posts above) its been in so pretty hot temps and nothing has lifted anywhere (I didn't use any adhesion promoter either) Last edited by Duvanator; 09-07-2011 at 01:22 PM. yeah I used both and the 1080 is so much nicer and easier to work with. The di-noc seems a little more rigid than the 1080.
I would use the di-noc outside and the 1080 inside. |

Except, from what I understand Di-Noc was never intended for automobiles, and will remove paint/clearcoat on cars if removed incorrectly... 1080 will not.

this stuff looks pretty good! does anyone know if the 1080 comes in matte/dry carbon? i'm debating what to do about my 10 year old interior.

Neither 1080 nor Di-Noc will stick to the Subaru interior pieces well, especially in areas with curve. I had to use 3M adhesive spray in order to make them stick.

Do you think it has to do with the way you prepped the pieces? I wiped everything down with alcohol, and had my interior trim pieces done in my legacy with Di-Noc and it never gave me any lifting issues.
