First timer at track with my Sti few basic Q's inside (did search)
Well it’s going to be the first time for me at the track. I know their ton of threads here about track days, but a new fresh thread couldn’t hurt. I feel this should be in the Sti forum since this is about a track day with a Sti.
I have some questions to ask that couldn’t be answered on other threads surprisingly. What should I set my tire pressure at? The max tire pressure of my S-03 is 51 PSI. Should I even bother to bring my jack and jack stand to the track? I want to take off my mid-pipe just for some fun. I bought a gallon of Toluene. I plan to use it for fun just for the track; I also plan to fill up with 100 octane before I go to the track. Not a full tank but a half. I have about a 45 min. to hour drive to the track I’m going to with traffic. I will not, of course use all of the gallon of Toluene if I only plant to fill up a half a tank. I will only use half a gallon. Other than that all my other questions have been answered. Thanks, Andy

I'd set tire pressures about 5 psi higher than your normal street pressure--that is typical for a street tire like the S-03. I'd also forget about race gas or octane booster--no need for it in my opinion, especially if you are new to track driving --that STI has more than enough power to get you in plenty of trouble if you are not careful.....have fun and drive within your limits.

I tracked my STi at Blackhawk Farm's just recently.
This is all I did to prep: Carbotech Panther+ Pads Motul 600 I set my tire pressures when I was there; 46psi in the front, 43 in the rear (stock tires) when they were heated up. Check your tire wear to see what the best tire pressure is for your car. I'd bring extra pads, tools to change the pads and maybe some brake fluid. You can probably borrow somebody's jack, but I'd bring my own as well. Have Fun! Masuo |
