I occasionally shift my wrx like ****. Granted it isnt the smoothest shifting manual ive ever driven.

Seriously... how can one 0-1 and 1-2 change on a day to day basis? How is that even possible.

OP, you didn't do any damage. Plenty of us went through the herky jerky learning process with much weaker drivetrains. Keep working at it!

I drive the Impreza Sport 5 speed. In order to get smooth shifts you need to find the grab point of your clutch. It's usually the half way point if releasing the clutch. When u apply gas depress the gas lightly and smoothly. Once you find that sweet grab point on your clutch your shifts will become much smoother. Remember the release of the clutch and application of the gas is like a see-saw. You don't want to apply the gas to early or late as you find the sweet grab point of the clutch. I have some foot work videos and I will post the link. Continue to practice and you will get a better handle for it.

Best thing you can do is find a flat parking lot and practice using only the clutch to get moving.

Ah I see. Well you can try this out. As u are about to hit the grab point of the clutch add some gas. Just apply light pressure to the gas just before the grab point. You will feel the shift to be smooth with a slight pull but no jerk.
