Default Automatic transmission fluid change

Hey guys, I have a 2018 impreza with an auto trans. The unit is sealed and has no dip stick . How do I check the fluid level? How do I change the fluid? I spoke to a mechanic at Subaru dealer and he said they would drain the fluid from the pan without doing anything else . The pan only has about 50 % of the fluid in it how do they get the rest out? Tech said they don’t . He could not tell me if there was a filter he could not tell me much more than the fill is on the passenger side by the linkage an inch behind it . There had to be a way to do a complete flush . Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks guys please send me a message

There is absolutely no reason for you to do anything with the fluid

Yup there is a filter. You have to tear halfway into the transmission to get at it. Funny thing is that part of the transmission is NOT field serviceable. If you need to change that filter you will also need to replace the transmission due to catastrophic failure.

As mentioned there is no reason to service CVT fluid.
BTW that tech told you wrong - you check the fluid level on the left side of the transmission. Exact location depends on if you have an N/A or turbo engine. Subaru's checking procedure from the service manual - is the transmission leaking? No? Fluid is fine.
