That manifold looks sick. Reminds me of a mini version of the one in Riley Stair's Trans Am.

Default 2JZ No *****!

Finally have some time to update this.

Well I FINALLY finished welding the manifold. Turned out wild but holy moly was it a lot of work. Now I just need to wait for my second wastegate to arrive then I’ll build the dump tubes. Those will be a neat design too!

Got my intercooler core mounted, and trimmed bumper to fit the new thicker core. Hood is also back on and clears everything nicely.

Head is going to the machine shop Tuesday to get resurfaced, then I will rebuild it with the new springs and cams.

Rear subframe also arrived and I coated my diff at the shop. I’ll be rebuilding it tomorrow and doing a rear end test fit to measure my driveshaft and get that ordered.

Things are finally falling in place but I still have lots to do.

Looks mean with the bumper on...

The manifold turned out wild!

The IC core is THICK!

The subframe turned out mint, coating that the same color?

Rear diff looks legit, will look good mounted up.

Head will be ready to rock I see. Man what an update, keep up the good work this is moving along quickly!

Thank you x6! Haha. Yes the subframe will be going the same dark metallic grey as the diff housing, then lateral links will be the yellow/green.

I have to move quick since my tune and the first show I’m going to is May 3rd!!!! Yikes. Hopefully everything falls into place.

Update time.

I’ve been pretty much working on this thing daily to try to get it running. Got my dual pass rad setup mounted up, which was a big thing on my to-do list. I recessed it in and under my removable chromoly rad support to give as much fan clearance as I can. Still will be snug.

Also got the differential rebuilt finally. That sucked.

I got all my rear end components powder coated now and it’s ready for final assembly! Exciting. My Precisin Shaft Tech 3” chromo driveshaft with 1350 u-joints will be here Monday as well.

Because I’m not running the u shaped subframe I decided to make a front end brace using 4130 chromo. Turned out super mint.

I also got the head torn apart and resurfaced. Also had to replace one cracked valve guide. I cleaned and lapped all valves/seats and have reinstalled them with GSC stem seals, and Manley spring with Ti retainers. Should pair nicely with my cams.

Now the engine is coming back out to put the head on, final assemble the clutch and do some final tweaks.

I can kind of see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s faint but it’s there. Lol

Now some pics.

Powder coated stuff looks good, really makes that big rear diff look legit.

Default 2JZ No *****!

It’s been a while so I figured it’s time for an update!

This project is definitely taking a lot of work to do correctly but that’s ok with me. I just need it done before mid July. Hoping to maybe have it fired up in a month or so.

After the last update I got my rear end assembled and installed. It was an absolute battle and not a bolt-in affair. Regardless it’s in for good and looks badass! My new Precision Shaft Tech 3” chromo 1350 jointed driveshaft fits like a glove too. Really nice piece.

I was sick of having my fuse box hiding behind my bumper so I made a recessed box for it to sit in on the side of the bay. Will be 100% accessible and hidden from site. Turned out great.

After that I repainted my bay once I was finished filling a few more unused openings. Just black.

Then I powder coated a million other things including engine mounts, subframe, sway bars, knuckles etc. Then made custom front stub shafts to finish the RWD conversion.

Installed the front subframe and front suspension. Looks sooooo good! Nice to see it start coming together.

I then did a complete overhaul on my Brembo calipers and shaved the rears to fit a 15” wheel when the time comes.

Then I installed my head for good with the arp 625+ head studs and APEXi head gasket, set all the valve lash for the new Kelford T202-d Cam’s and buttoned up the top end.

I started installing the new triple disk OS Giken clutch then realized I need to align the QuickTime bellhousing so I had to order the indexing plate which will arrive this coming week. Really nice clutch though. Never seen anything like it up close. Curious to see what it feels like.

And that pretty much sums up the last month.

Next on the hit list is:
-final clutch install and then motor/trans go in for good.
-fab wastegate dump tubes
-fab IC pipes and IC endtanks
-fab exhaust (hoping to fit 4”)
-install new Tilton clutch master to power the Tilton hydraulic release bearing
-Then wiring!

Better get busy hahah.

Heck of an update. Keep up the great work!

Now that you have the rear end sorted I would say it's all downhill from here. Your to do list should fly, and you have some fun fabrication left. The wiring is prob hardest thing left? Then a little motor/clutch install and your near the finish line. Your tearing it up!

Thx and I agree that I’m on the downhill now! Yes the wiring will be a beast but hopefully isn’t too bad!

Default 2JZ No *****!

Since the last update I’ve been busy!

Aligned bellhousing to within .00075 parallel, and .0025 concentric, which is WELL within spec. Setup the hydraulic release bearing/clutch then mated it all together for good.

Motor/trans went in beatifully and is now in its final resting place. I spent the last week fabricating the IC endtanks and IC pipes. Tight fit but it all fits very well. First time ever welding endtanks, but I’m pretty pleased with them.

Now to start on the exhaust, a few cooling system things and a bunch of other bits & pieces.

Getting there.
