Default 2011 WRX STI hatch Radio upgrade.

Hello guys, new owner of a 2011 WRX STI now....its's been years since I had a Subie, since 2004. I purchase this vehicle from a non member of Nasioc, but I already noticed I have a blown passenger side door speaker already. And head unit look outdated. Was looking to keep the Bluetooth option I have for audio and hands free calling. Also looking to upgrade all the speakers and keep it factory looking for maybe a little thump....I drive another car and it's a 2011 BMW 328I, the radio on that car is nothing compared to the STI, and sound 100x's better than the STI. I am just looking for a better head unit and sound.

Free bump for someone looking for the same thing. I was thinking about going with the Idoing unit. It's made in China but from what I have seen of videos they are actually decent quality. I'm no audiophile, I just need something that isn't the worst radio I've ever had in any car lol. Plus CarPlay and a backup cam would be nice.

edit: first double post!

I will take this time to add that the only reason I haven't bought one yet is because I want a volume knob...but I'm about sick of waiting,

The best unit out right now will be the T'Eyes CC3 Android head unit. I just installed it about a week ago and absolutely love it. It checks all the boxes. BT, backup camera, Internet enabled, WIFI, 3 USB inputs, TV and many more options. I initially was going to get the Idoing, or Seicane units until I found this one.

The fact that I can load my mp4's on a usb stick and watch movies on the fly is a big plus and I'm pleasantly surprised of its quality considering its a Chinese made product. I included the website and product reviews if you want to check it out.

What year is your car? Do you have any photos or videos of it installed? Looks like a pretty good option! I was thinking about buying a newer OEM Subaru backup cam and installing it in the same spot it was on my 2019 WRX but on the hatch; however, I am not a wiring or compatibility expert so I might default to one of the package deals.

Apologies for the slow reply, I never received notification of a response.

I have a 2011 STI. I don't have pics but you can see exact photos on the website I listed, and actual functioning of the unit in the review vid I Linked which is much better than anything I would capture. As far as wiring there is none, T'Eyes gives the appropriate plugs so everything is plug n play..... literally, there is ZERO wiring unless of course your factory plugs have been cut off. The unit also has a backup cam option that is a direct plug in or wireless so you have a choice. Hope this helps

I did end up getting the CC3, and so far so good! I haven't messed with it that much yet but the sound quality improvement alone was worth it. One thing I haven't looked into yet is the volume difference between CarPlay and the radio. If I have the radio on 6 and I go to use Carplay, the 6 on CarPlay is much quieter than the radio. And I have to turn it down immediately after or else the radio kicks back in super loud. I'm sure it's a setting.

I didn't install the backup cam yet because I need to get some tee taps for the reverse lights, etc. Here are a couple of crappy pics of it installed for anyone interested.

Hey guys I'm in Argentina and haven't been checking this threads. Thanks for the info. Looking for something thats IOS compatible....and also not into this Chinese stuff. Any Pioneer or other know brand? I'm sure some of these are made in China, but looking for some brand name head units.

Check out Crutchfield, they have a ton of options for filtering what you want. I just didn't want to hassle with the wiring. That being said I am sure you can buy harnesses from iWire or something. edit: not a huge fan of the Chinese stuff either but the CC3 has treated me fine so far. Like I mentioned earlier I just needed a better radio than stock so my expectations weren't extravagant.

Thanks and I'm back in here since I had many other things happened since I last posted about my head unit. Have been focusing on other things on the car. But back to this and I'm looking at Crutchfield for a new head unit. I'm looking at $300-almost $500 for a head unit and to keep my steering controls and be just a plug and play you need their wiring hook ups, that's like another $200
