Thanks 79 for that link... and all others that you have posted.
It seems that most people are in agreement that its absolutely unacceptable that any new car/engine consume oil after break-in unless there is a problem. Subaru's 1 quart per 1200 mile allowance is a complete cop out and and let's them get away from taking responsibility for fixing their engines that do happen to burn oil. This whole situation is BS and one of the biggest reasons why I'm am done with Subaru after I am able to get rid of my car.

I wonder if there was some sort of petition/registry that listed all the owners and their level of consumption that could be presented to SOA, would that have any leverage for addressing the issue? Just a thought. |

And why shouldn't cars with defect engine design loose their resale value?
We all risked by purchasing the new unproven cars. When you risk, sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. |

Yea...whenever a car puts in a new engine, I would never grab it right away until the bugs are worked out. You'd think that Subaru would do this first, as any manufacturer should...but they never do. It's like they use the public as the beta test.
For what it's worth....I already think the resale value on the 2012-2013 is lower compared to the trust-worthy Subies. Right now...as it stands, I'd rather get a used WRX than a brand new 2.0i. It's not going to happen, but hypothetically...that's what I'd rather buy. 1 quart every 1200 miles is a joke. Any claim of this is ridiculous. I don't care if it has been used before...it's ridiculous. |

So then what do you propose SOA use as a threshold?

I propose that when you have a major issue on a brand new car, that SOA makes sure it gets fixed. I also propose that SOA institute standard aptitude testing at the dealer and CS levels.
And I propose that Subaru send a Rep out when they PRMISE they will. They also need to redesign the seats. |

As I understand it, the sae standard allowance for oil consumption is a quart per 1000.
When was this allowance calculated and how? I'll bet that lame allowance hasnt changed since te days of the Vega and the Pinto. |

Mine is far from defective. There were a bad batch. When i say bad some burn a little more oil than others. I would take that any day over a major internal failure. This thread is so loose butt hole.

Please stop generalizing that all of these cars burn oil. That's how all these stupid internet rumor "OMG!IT'SALLONFIREEVERYTHINGISFAILINGTHESKYISFALLI NGTHEYAREALLGARBAGERUNAWAY" "conventional wisdom" BS ideas get started. Please remain rational.

Those of us that DO burn oil, however, have a right to be pissed and make a stink about it until we have answers. Admittedly, it is difficult to not be somewhat emotional about the situation at times. For many of us, it is very unacceptable that our new cars in the year 2013 burn ANY appreciable amount of oil. Im sure that those of you who don't burn oil were in the same situation, you would most likely feel the same way. |

Who said or even suggested that ALL of em buen quarts of oil?
Why do people keep stirring up arguments? As to the '13s bur.ing, I'd wager that a percentage do/will. The consumption problem with fb's started with the Foresters in 2011. Theres been a LONG discussion on forester.og about it thats been linked here several times. I think that there must be some crucial part(s) of the assembly or manufacturing process that can lead to this problem and is easy to overlook. Most dont have the probkem, but the ones that have it seem to be dismissed with scripted resonses. Maybe us "unique individuals" burning oil could all make 20 second video clips saying oil burning is not "worth waiting for" and make a mock commercial.on YouTube. An organized oil burners "club" could benefit those of us with the problem. |

LOL...this guy obviously hasn't read this entire....awesome thread. I don't even have the 2012-13 FB engine and I still like to know what's going on. Anyone defending SOA's actions either has fanboi syndrome, or is plain old dense. It's a company....just like Hostess cupcakes. They didn't care about you eating twinkies or how bad they were for you... and eventually they came to an end. They didn't listen to what the trends were doing and failed. Perhaps it's a radical comparison, but what would happen to SOA if they simply ignore the issues happening to the small percentage of trusted buyers of Scoobies.....rumors start spreading....things go from bad to worse...then who knows. I don't have this problem...knock on wood...but imagine if 79 and the others simply got help before hitting the boards....although now it's 2013 and the 2011 Foresters already had it...so apparently it's not fixed....WHY? What is going on? |

I suggested you get a list (of names, not forum aliases -- do it off the forum) together a while ago, who better than you, 79, to do that? I think SOA should and will address your concern, get organized and contact SOA as a group rather than spending your time with the redundant drama posts about the issue. Nothing new has been said on this forum in months. Last edited by Zeeper; 01-12-2013 at 07:24 AM. |

Anyone woukd be better. I already have perma-trolls and too much hatre
d from you faithful. Drama and countless posts? You said on page ten or so that you were "through" with this thread. An organized group woukd be best organized and headed by someone other than me, the now-infamous 79. |

If non-oil-burners would stay out of the conversation unless they can actually add to the discussion, that would be great. SEEMS like some just wanna come in and argue or somehow discredit ME. As soon as I ''make nice" with one, another steps in. SOA couldnt have a better more devoted legal team lol.
In response to the " quit whining" posts by subaru lemmings- well quit reading our discussion. There are more than plenty of threads for praising the almighty gods at soa. This thread would be much more concise without the constant bickering. Why do any of yall wanna pick on people who made a huge consumer purchase and got a 2nd rate product??????? |

You apparently lack the maturity to recognize helpful advice when it is provided to you, which explains your victimization and inaction.
I think anyone, oil burner or otherwise, who looks at this thread in its entirety will recognize that complaining on NASIOC without doing anything to try and fix the problem is pretty weak. Last edited by Zeeper; 01-12-2013 at 08:54 AM. |

You are right, though, Zeeper. Someo.e should organize a group or list. There are many caveats to that though and the only list of real names and vins is SOA's.
WHAT WE REALLY NEED IS A DISGRUNTLED OR CONCEARNED EMPLOYEE OF SUBARU TO PROVIDE THEIR DATA. I'll bet more than a few unique individuals have called SOA about this since 2011 Foresters were released. Yes- a whistle-blower. As it stands- dealers tell us they ALL burn it, and SOA says " no one else has had that, but its ok to burn a quart in 1200 blah blah blah" Since this is what we have been going through as consumers, I say any pissing and moaning, bitching and whining is quite warranted and deserved. From OUR point of view, SOA hasnt stepped up to the plate. And anyone that would spend TWENTY THOUSAND on a car and be cool with it burning oil is just sad, and in my opinion, these are the stupid masses that companies rely on in this age of cutting costs at the expense of quality. |

Sorry, as a favor to NASIOC and my sanity I added you to my ignore list, along with Stevenhnm.
I suggest you do the same. |

FWIW- OTHER OIK BURNERS ARENT GETTING ANY HELP EITHER. THATS WHY WE COME HERE TO DISCUSS THE SITUATION. YOUR ARROGANCE AND NEED TO SHOWCASE YOUR "SUPERIORITY" REEK OF SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS. Im really glad your car is so great and has no problems. But your badgering and belittlement, and constantly insulting my intelligence and maturity is getting old. It aint got nuthin to do with me! None of the other oil burners here are getting any different results from soa or dealers. |

So Now Youre All Of A Sudden Adding Me To The Ignore List? Great! But Your Motives And Your 79-smear-campaign Do Have Me And Others Questioning Your Motives Zeeper.
Quit Posting In Here And I Have No Reason To Ignore You. But Im Not Adding You To The List. You'll Just Continue To Smear Me And I WOULD LIKE TO INTELLIGIBKY DEFEND MYSELF FROM YOUR EGO-OR-SOA-DRIVEN CONDEMNATIONS. THE LAST THING YOU OR SOA WOULD WANT IS TO HAVE A RATIONAL DEBATE OR DISCUSSION. BECAUSE YOU WOULD NEVER WIN. SO INSULTING MY INTELLIGENCE AND PLAYING YOUR INTELLECTUAL ELITISM CARD IS THE ONLY WAY. PLEASE IGNORE ME,AND THIS THREAD. AFTERALL- YOUVE SAID TIME AND AGAIN THAT YOU "WERE THROUGH" GO ON- NOBODYS GONNA MISS YOU OR BRING YOUR NAME UP. HAVE A NICE LIFE. I'LL ASK JESUS TO MAKE YOUR CAR BURN OIL.IF YOU KEEP IT UP! |

Oil light has been coming on and off the past month or so. Subaru found a leaky valve cover gasket to blame on the quart of oil over the last month that I thought was being burned. I'm the first one at 35500 miles with this problem. Perhaps this is an issue for others. Figured I'd let everyone know. Thanks.
