Just got my APS FMIC in today.
I was wondering how long it takes to install. Do I need any special tools? Thanks, Jim

the DR500?
Thats what i got, it will take about one full day to do, I did it at night after work at about 3hrs a clip, for 3 days. So a full day is required. Did you get instructions with yours? You need a smaller battery too, PM with any more q's. What intake did you get? john |

nope, its smaller, same height and width, just about 5" from front to back. 450 or 550 CCA i forget. It does the job, I live out here in NJ and its been friggin cold lately, and the car turns right over. Check out this pic from our dinner meet, theres on on the first page, you can see the battery.

Thanks FIS of TX. sent me install instructions.
They said it would take about 3-4 hours. Now if it would only warm up outside -5 deg this morning. I'm praying for 50 deg weather to do this install. Cheers, Jim |

Jim,

i just finished installing the d/r 500 front mount.took my friends and i about 5 hours(3 other friends and i).it was longer than we all expected but it goes in very well.yes, you need another battery to clear the piping.my friend used a dremel and then a sander to cut th bumper, but i still need to trim the edges with an exacto knife or something similiar.good luck with your install.

hi
i know cutting the bumper is pretty hard.. now the dr500 comes with the template.. but thats only for the edge.. did u clear the whole vent section.. the lower center vent section is kinda restricted with the black unpainted guard.. how did u manage to cut all that out without cutting the painted surface? just exacto knife and dremel can do this job? thanks

I wouldn't say cutting the bumper is hard,
it just takes a lot of time. Measure twice, cut once. But to get the bumper skin to fit right, you have to cut a few times. I can give you a hand, PM me if you need help. Did my intercooler/bumper lip myself.
