PWN3D my car was stolen & recovered this weekend...

went down to the mall saturday to take my mac to the apple store to have a bad optical drive replaced under warranty...which won't be done til the 25th, so i'm already good and ticked off, but that's another story...sorry, a 2 week turnaround on an expensive product aimed at professionals isn't very professional to me...anyways, i digress...

so i walk back out to my car. or rather where it was...the black jetta is still there, the S2000 on the other side is still there, as is the the tree island i parked in front of. my car is not. so after about 30 minutes of retracing my steps, to make sure i'm just not losing my mind in the mind numbing sameness of the parking lot...sure enough it's gone.

call the police, fill out all the paperwork, and about 3 hours later they find the car in a target parking lot 2 miles up the road with the passenger door hanging open. all that was stolen were the CD's in the center console, and of course the stub from my paycheck that i had just deposited with all my personal info on it...grrrrreat. i'm guessing they noticed the VIN numbers were etched on every single piece of glass, and just ditched the car. no damage to the car or anything fortunately...and they got the door open on the passenger side which was already keyed up, so the marks from whatever they used to get in joined they key scratches that need to be painted over anyways...

anyways, it was weird. VERY weird. you'd think you'd be mad in a situation like this, but it didn't bother me like it could have, had it been my impreza that i had countless hours invested in...

I wonder if leaving a dildo and anal beads on the front seat of a car would serve as a good theft deterrant?

Or maybe a loud dog? I usually take mine on errands, since they love driving so much. They behind a grate, but I imagine any theif would take one look at the dogs and take a pass on it.

Haven't really heard of anyone getting a car stolen out here though.

i wanted to watch it descend into OT chaos.

a semi-serious note: someone at work mentioned there was that black saturn that followed me suspiciously a couple weeks ago. he was weaving all over the place like he was on something, so as soon as i had a hole in traffic i shot right by him, and he started FOLLOWING me home...i drove past my house to a gas station, but still...then my car is "keyed" a week or 2 later, then the next week stolen...?

HMM...i have no enemies, that i know of...

Check the tri-state forums, my current rough estimate is approximately 20-25 rexes and stis since early september (people I know, people on this board, talking with police, and scouting police impounds).

It's so bad, I didn't even want to take a chance and buy another wrx or sti.
