I wanted a red cloth 2 door PP GTI (I love the plaid) but there were no leftovers when I was buying, the only leftover PP (non Autobahn) within 500 miles was the one I got. Black with black leather, neither were what I would have picked but it looks nice when it’s clean. I wash both cars every week and the leather sure does speed up the vacuum time and leather is nicer for formal wear, which I avoid as much as possible.
Subaru leather sucks. VW leather is OK, BMW premium pack leather is top notch. My favorite GTI spec is SE (PP standard) with plaid cloth seats. Never cared for the Autobahn and I think it is grossly overpriced so is the Limited trim on the WRX, IMHO of course.

Its not all Subaru, our 2012 Outback has nice leather, but the WRX leather feels like plastic. Thereís always Katzkin leather if you donít want cloth.

I thought the leather in the Outbacks and Legacyís Iíve driven was fine, Iíve never looked at the WRX leather closely. BMWs leatherette is fine for me, as is MB-Tex and the leatherette in most VWs. I was surprised my 2016 SE GTI has real leather.

Katzkin makes a great product for someone who cares that much, that person isnít me though.

I was referring to WRX for the most part. I tried the limited and it just did not sit well with me. This is not a luxury car, it is not refined and the interior is rather cheap quality overall. It is not a car you buy for a nice interior, if that makes sense. In the GTI on the other hand, while I still prefer the signature plaid seats, the leather interior fits much better. It is just a more elegant design and a nicer place to be and the leather seats seemed to be of much higher quality than the WRX.

Agreed. I donít mind the cheap on the WRX, they put the money in the fun places which is all I need. No complaints on the drivetrain, really I donít have any complaints with it at all. My wife mainly drives the GTI, she likes a little fluff. I pulled her out of a loaded up C300 4matic, she basically kicked and screamed till she drove it.

Same. This car has exceeded my wildest expectations. I bought it 4 years ago way under budget. I considered launch edition STI, E90 M3, Golf R...Ended up with this thing after a wild test drive. It hasn't disappointed me since. I drive it just to drive it. I beat the crap out of this thing and it only asks for more. It pulls like a freight train and handles like a rabbit with cleats.

That really looks nice but I would think that spec would demand a big price increase here.

I saw a GLI at the dealership, and Iím not convinced it has the Jetta SEL seats, they look different. I didnít get to sit in it, car was sold. Was an Autobahn too, not 35th.

If it gets the usual GTI-style discounts, the GLI will be a steal. Autobahn at $25k would be hard to resist. I paid $21k for my stripper Civic Sport.

I don't have much of an issue with that here in Seattle. Plus my windows are tinted, and I use a sun shade. Our outback can be pretty bad at times since the front two windows aren't tinted.

Now that's Subaru trying to be something they're not. I don't care how nice those seats are, they don't belong in a Subaru.

I had gray leather in my last car with tints, that wasn't too bad but I really like dark interiors.

Exactly. That interior would significantly raise the prices. The road noise would still be there and so would be the cheap plastics. The price would defeat the purpose of this car. Once you get into low 30's, WRX is starting to make little to no sense if you are into bells and whistles or comfort.
