Default Exhaust question - Utah Law

Hi guys, quick question regarding the laws in Utah.

I am looking to buy the Nameless Axleback exhaust for my '17 WRX. But I want to make sure it will still be 'legal' and pass emissions.

From what I found, Utah law states:
"Mufflers are required on all vehicles and must prevent unusual or excessive noise."

This makes me think that if I get the 4" muffler option, I should still be able to pass emissions, as there are still mufflers. I just want to confirm before I spend the cash.

Does anyone else living here in SLC have the Nameless axle back system and passed the Safety/Emissions test?

If you live in Salt Lake City you could still have issues. Unless it has changed in the last 7 or 8 years, Salt Lake had their own ordinance that said the mufflers had to be stock or stock style or something like that. I had a SLC cop pull me over for being too loud, but since my car was not registered in the city he couldn't really ticket me for it. But as for inspection, I don't know how much they look at city laws since inspections, iirc are supervised by the utah highway patrol so it is a state law thing...

Axleback will be fine. Downpipe is where they get you.
