Default WRX Morette HID opinions suggestions

I looking to get a HID kit for my WRX with the morette headlights.

What I want is

-plug and play harnesses
- Modest price
-decent maintenance cost... (decently priced replacement bulbs)

What I want to know is which kit is good. I don't need the absolute best (self leveling etc etc) but if the price is around 400 bucks that will work.

I just want opinions of those who have them and what they think. Is it worth it? How often do you have to replace the bulbs and how much do those bulbs cost?

I'm also interested in actually getting the most light out of the kit... not just simply the pretty blue and purple colors... unless of course the blue and purple colors put out just as much or better light... with the cool benefit of colors...

Nothing too deep here guys just your opinions and input

So if you could share your great knowledge with me I'd appreciate it.

He sells hid kits on e-bay and stands behind his products. The kit I got has Hella ballasts and 7000k bulbs. These are not plug and play but maybe because I have the first generation Morettes.

I paid about $350 for my set. The light are day and night. The factory fogs are useless with HID's. i can show them to you if you like.

Russell,

Was $350 for the HID kit only or with the Morette housing?

I got my morrettes with HIDs from HIDS4less.com for 899 shipped. That price was for the morrettes and the HID upgrade. The entire kit is plug and play. You take off the stock lights, put on the new ones, run the wire across from one light to the other, and attach the leads to the battery posts. Each side comes with its own igniter and ballast.

Now, understand, when I received the morrettes, the HIDs were already attached and installed. HIDS4less sells the HID upgrade if you want to install it on an existing set of morrettes, but I do not know if the install for the upgrade is plug and play. The light output is phenomenal. A friend and I compared his stock morrettes to my HIDs, and his comment was "wow, yours are 10x brighter than mine." He's getting his morrettes upgraded.

The light has a light bluish tint when you look at the projectors, but the light output on the ground is nearly daylight. HIDS4less actually took the time to ensure that the focal point for the HID bulbs was in perfect alignment with the projector focal point in the morrette projectors lamps. They told me the bulbs should last 5 years with normal use, because xenon bulbs are very expensive. There's no getting around that price for true HID bulbs. I'm not sure what the operating temp is, but I'm more than satisfied with the amount of light it throws on the road. I wish the self leveling version was available, because adjusting these things is a PITA. When you go with HIDs on the e-code lights, you WILL blind the person you are passing on the right. There's nothing you can really do about it but pass quickly. Make sure when you aim your e-code HID morrettes, after you upgrade, that you have between a 1 and 3 degree drop from horizon to minimize the blinding effects of the HIDs. Hope this helps.

I go to the UCKK meet most of the times. I'll see you there. Also CupertinoSteve lives near you and goes to the MVKK meets. He has the same lights.
