Ascent beat out segment leader Toyota Highlander in this review.
Better infotainment and driving feel put the Ascent on top. Of course, given the source (Business Insider) they could have made up the entire review. But still good press for the Ascent. https://www.thisisinsider.com/toyota...better-2018-10 |

Pretty fair review, I think. I've rode around in the back of the newest body Highlander and it's fine. Ascent has 4 more inches, which would be amazing. Also, if I read correctly, the Ascent is 0.1 second slower despite having 45 less horsepower and possibly weighing more? That'd be incredible. I've seriously been debating trading in the Impreza for the Ascent Touring. I think I just need a test drive, plus waiting to see what the 2020 Ascent adds or subtracts. 2nd row captains chairs seem really nice, although I think I could live better with having an eighth seat, which isn't available on the Touring. I want MAXIMUM Subaru in my Subaru, please. Somewhat unfortunately, at the moment I'm not a Subaru Ambassador, which would be helpful for discounts and early access info. It pisses me off because I was on a 5-week cross-country road trip when they emailed me about not having a MySubaru account. I informed them that I did indeed have an account (Subaru even emailed it in the past). I recently got a confirmation that they received my reply and are putting it in line with other emails. Whatever. I think they screwed the pooch on my current situation seeing as how I was setting up several friends and family to buy Outbacks and Ascents within a year. I've been asked tons of questions about the Ascent. Owning one would advertise it really well. Definitely don't want to throw away this gear, merchandise and mags over a stupid email misunderstanding. Now I hurry up and wait... |

I'm not allergic to soy, but I avoid it like I am - nobody needs that much estrogen.

Finally saw one of these in my work parking lot. Boring is all I can say. Looks like a slightly larger Outback.
I'm honestly surprised there aren't more of these on the road with the decent price combined with all the Subaru fan bois around New England. |

I think they just haven’t got out there yet. Also really mainly people with 2 or more kids buy cars this big. |

More and more of my friends have began lusting after the Ascent. I don't think I've seen one in Alaska yet, but I know they're here.
I don't like that the Touring comes with 7 seats and brown leather. |

I think it's great and would jump on it - but I don't need such a big vehicle. The next few months' sales stats will be interesting for sure.

The Ascent definitely wins in shoulder room, as well as cargo volume. |

I'm 6'3" 300lbs, There is more than enough room in the fronts seats, middle row, I even fit okay in the 3rd row. We just hit 5k with our Ascent, What ever the cubic feet is there is plenty of room on the inside but still feels like a small SUV on the outside! and super comfortable to drive.

First ECM reflash available for the FA24DIT in the Ascent... released in October.
Most service departments will probably insist it doesn't exist or isn't applicable or available yet. P2196 O2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Rich (Bank 1 Sensor 1) DTC P0045 Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Control A Circuit Open https://www.obd-codes.com/p2196 https://www.obd-codes.com/p0045 |

I too am not a fan of just the brown interior option for the touring. I would love to see the touring package with black leather interior.

First off the cargo space difference is something like 3 cubic ft, ascent has around 17 vs 14 in the cx9. Both seriously lack cargo space behind the third row compared to the traverse and explorer (or especially a minivan). Cx9 also has tilt to access function on the second row so you can leave a car seat installed when accessing the third row. I also found the second row had more adjustability which allowed for more room in the third row with a car seat installed behind the driver. On the downside the driver's seat is more cramped in the cx9. |

We were attracted to the captain's chairs for the same reason, easy access to 3rd row. But now our kids have about outgrown the car seats, one is still in his Recaros but could go to a booster. I like the Ascent cause it seems a bit smaller on the outside than the competition, including the CX-9. I strongly prefer longer trunks to tall ones, I hate when they give you a big trunk space number cause it's a tall trunk, that's only useful for piling up pillows or something. VW does this a lot. |

The problem we have is that if we get captains chairs it severely limits cargo space because one kid will have to be in the third row. Space wise minivans are definitely the way to go but only the sienna offers and it's I'm not really a fan, much prefer the Odyssey. I'm curious about the 2020 explorer redesign. For right now I think we will try to see how three across in our FXT works out for a few weeks lol. |

We just got a Yakima 16 ft^3 Skybox for additional room. It was on sale for just under $400, so we jumped on it. |

With another one on the way, and no family within driving distance, we've been increasingly thinking of a 3 row, so we can drive visiting family around with kids.
Anyone cross shopped this with the 3row tiguan or atlas? I've been really enjoying my new vw... |

The Atlas is the roomiest 3 row crossover but the first year reliability has been horrific, even by VW standards, otherwise I'd probably have one already. Last edited by Celery GT-5; 12-29-2018 at 03:35 PM. |

With the exception of Impreza, there isn't a model that's below a 30% leather take rate. Ascent and Outback both sell more leather than cloth.
