HOWEVER... if your u-joint is fitting properly they serve almost no function, and see almost 0 force.

I think you might have a seccondary issue... either excessive driveline angle, a wallowed out yoke, or a malformed u-joint. As torque related breakage should be in the joint or the shaft tubing.
The angle is fine, and the axle is pitched perfectly.

I came to the same conclusion, and replaced the u-joint while I was at it. If it was a fault in the yoke or joint, it should be gone now.

the little reading ive done on the crd engine in those are that they are horribly unreliable and so-so fuel economy. hence the short lifespan of the diesels in the libertys. thats just the popular opinions ive read on forums mind you, by no means any first or even second hand experience.

Ive just seen the retaining blocks inside the yoke get wallowed out a hair.. any slop usually leads to failure.

I've been flashed a few times from the back while driving the jeep on the highway, does anyone know what this might be? Could it be the tires (rubicon tires) throwing rocks at drivers behind me? I'm never speeding or blocking the express lanes, just sort of on my own.... checked the tailights, everything looks fine.

finally picked up the Jeep tonight. The shop set the MT/R's at 38psi Its still a bit of a choppy ride at 29psi, but MUCH better. The shop made me some brake line brackets as with the 5160's, its not as easy to zip-tie them. I also had them put Hawk HPS pads on while the wheels were off, knowing that having a higher ***956; pad would help with the 35's. The pedal is a lot firmer but I'll withold judgment until I get some more miles on them. So far, so good.

Quick pic before walking inside tonight:

I need to get the TF carrier on this weekend to get the spare mounted, as well as a b/u camera and JW Speaker headlights.

I do have an issue tonight though....the TPMS light is on. I rode home with the spare in the cabin and once emptied and pressure adjusted, I still had a light. I also left the spare at home tonight to backtrack and drop my wife to get the other car from the shop. The TPMS is still on. So....is there more calibration I have to do with the ProCal? Not sure why the light is on. I do recall reading something about this....will have to dig.

The TPMS light stays on for a certain amount of miles before it shut off. I think it stayed on for about 75 miles when I got my new Jeep last month.

Hmm. These TPMS are from my original set and were transferred over. Wonder if it just got tripped because of the difference in pressure or perhaps turning the vehicle on when they were off the Jeep at some point.

Drove this home over the weekend:

1972 international travelall. My grandfather has had it since 1976. Not officially mine yet, but he said it's mine as soon as he signs the title over to me.

Looking forward to some camping trips in the spring.

I hope it will bring my family years of outings and service. It's been very well cared for so far, so it really needs nothing as it sits.

That International is sweet! My old man had one when I was a kid, he used it for his snowplow and lawn care business (no, he's not Mexican)

I plastic-dipped the grill and added the new stubby bumper.

I'm running black MB72 rims with 33" duratracs. I also have Ace rock rails. Tinting the windows is next on the agenda.
