Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 SD logging?
Ok, hoping to get some logs from my car tonight. I am searching around RomRaider and OpenECU websites/forums and I am getting some conflicting data. I think it is due to the initial posts in FAQ's or links I am guided too not being updated, and in some cases, not being clarified.
Basically, I want to know the basics and how to just get the logs onto the SD card, as well as if there is a way to pull a log, stop it, and restart logging on a separate file while driving (I believe there is or used to be an option to use the defogger button for this). Also, do we need to copy the appropriate text file from the logger definitions to the SD and rename it to logcfg.txt anymore? I check one FAQ it says to do so, check another and it says not too. My head is spinning from data absorption I think I have most of the pieces to this puzzle, just need some input to solidify this stuff.

You can still use the rear defroster button to start/stop logging. If you look around the OpenECU forum in the standalone logging thread, there is a website that someone created to generate the log config file for you. Create that file, copy it to the SD card and go log.

The .exe in the first post will generate the file you need to copy to the sd card for standalone logging. It can be activated via coolant temp, RPM, or the rear defogger like fenix said above.
http://forums.openecu.org/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=4396 The newest beta of romraider logs much faster than even the standalone logger so you'll be losing resolution by using sd logging. Last edited by unknown001; 08-16-2011 at 11:53 PM. |

You mean I should log via the USB? All I have is a Mac OS X10.5 laptop to take to the car.
I downloaded and setup MOST of the definitions last night, but I didn't see a place to put the ECU definitions; unless it automatically finds them once I find the folder for the Logger definitions. Which would be a problem since I created separate folder for the unzipped definition files. Once I loaded the Logger definitions, it did show the monitors I could set to test (a metric ton!) and did display individual car models and the ROM versions. Hopefully I did it right. PS - Does it matter if you go back and forth between a MAC and a Windows OS assuming both versions have the most up to date definitions? I installed and setup everything(I think) on my Vista 64-bit OS Desktop; but my in car work will be on the Mac Laptop. |

The config maker uses your romraider defs to show the list of parameters.
Fast polling is actually slower than sdcard high speed logging, however the sd card logging is way too fast and provides too much data IMO. Airboys spreadsheet wont even graph that much data. Fast polling (in romraider rc9) is the perfect amount of data imo. |

I must not be understanding something.
I loaded up RomRaider, installed the ECU definitions and the logger definitions. I opened ECUFlash and when I try to add car.xml for my 2.5i, it lists a few ROM's but I don;t know which one to choose. I tried using the Config creator listed, but I get an error: fatal error logcfg Mainform Form_Load Error:91(10420) Object variable or With blcock variable not set I plugged the Tactric OP2 in, with my SD card, and it reads as a drive, but there is nothing on it. It is formatted FAT32. |

Bump. Someone tell me how to get it to log to my SD card, with the defogger. I know i can do it via laptop, and I may just be forced to do that tomorrow, but the SD overall is more convenient for my needs.
Do i need a logcfc.txt or not? If so, how do I make it? What would be the code for my 06 2.5i ECU ROM? |

2 - Download logcfg.exe from this link. Put the file in your RomRaider directory. 3 - Run the logcfg program. 4 - Select your ECU Internal ID from the pulldown menu. 5 - Select the parameters you want to log. 6 - Select which switch you want to use to turn the logger on or off. 7 - Create the config file via the button in the top right. It will apear in the RomRaider directory. 8 - Copy this file into the root directory of you SD card in the OP2.0. 9 - Log away. |

After all this time I couldn't get it to work because I was using an 8GB sd card. I swapped it out for a 2GB and wallah... Opened the files and there it was... USE ONLY A 1-2GB SD CARD! If I only paid attention to the details in the instructions....

check this out. http://verticaltier.net/configtool/logger.php type in the last four digits of your ecu code and your parameters will pop up. MAke sure that you have no greater than a 2 GB sdcard or else it will not work. I thought would be much more convenient than logging with RR, it's really not.

I just tried this for the first time tonight, and I gotta say, 4 lines per second is a bit of a bummer. But *convenient?* Damn right it is. If only you could leave the Tactrix in the ODB port without draining your batteries. |

^^^ don't bother with SD logging. It's convenient but slow as molasses. I would much rather log without the laptop but the resolution is pitiful.

Ziggy - I think you are doing something incorrectly. I get 40Hz sample rate with my OP2.0 logger. Maybe you need to update the firmware on your cable. I had to download a version of ECU Flash from an Evo forum.

Interesting. Do you have a link? Clearly, the hardware is capable of much faster rate since RR logger can do it. I'd love to have it working without the laptop, if possible.

Here's another pic : If you need info : martin.gingras @ gmail com take the spaces out. I flushed my defi's for this and had change left best mod ever. If the ecu reads it, this also reads it, and displays it. |
