Maybe while sitting still but the venting heat will just go right back into the scoop to the TMIC while moving.

This is what I'm hoping for. I already have an FMIC installed, so the scoop is actually useless and detrimental to performance at this point.
My original plan was just to make a permanent scoop block plate. Once I pulled off the stock scoop insert, I realized I could probably make it into something similar to an Evo 8/9 hood vent. It's hard to see in that crappy pic, but the scoop opening is blocked with a piece of sheet aluminum with a grill mesh on top to match the vent opening. I also have a sheet aluminum piece that I'm putting on the underside of the vent to help direct air up and out of the engine. I should hopefully have this done and installed by the weekend with better pics. |

I think I read somewhere that the hood scoop messes with the air flow over the fmic somewhat. That may be what he is talking about. Could be wrong though.

It's a cool idea and if like to see it mounted. Would be interesting to see it plexiglas instead. I have seen some 03-07 guys delete the scoop with plexiglas and it looks great. As mentioned earlier not much to look at with the plastic under the WRX though

With more details, now the scoop modification seems reasonable.
The block off plate on the scoop avoids positive pressure in the engine bay, while the new meshed area will serve multiple purposes. |

Would be interested in possibly buying that for the right price once I can see if your willing to make another...
with a FMIC the scoop sucks in air into the engine bay which supposedly causes high pressure -> harder for air to move through the radiator -> higher engine temps |

^This is all spot on. The scoop creates higher pressure in the engine bay. While this might be nice to cool down the engine bay, but it will reduce flow through the FMIC and radiator. I still like the flat hood if it's paired with a FMIC. Rear facing vents would be nice, but I don't think they're really necessary. Some air is able to flow out through the fender vents already. The rest just goes out the bottom like normal.

^ Yes more 08+ support haha! Sedan or hatch? Can't tell from the diffuser.
Also post up pics of the grille installed, still debating that. |

The trunk lip spoiler looks like a sedan part as well... going to look good, love plasma blue, but I'm biased.
